Proposed: Birmingham West Midland Meetup
The long national nightmare of getting my visa is over and I am coming to Birmingham to study next week. Would anyone in the Midlands (and elsewhere) be interested in a meet-up the weekend of October 8/9? It's been five years since I have been in Birmingham so suggestions of great places will be greatly and gladly appreciated.

Proposed: Rio de Janeiro meetup
Meet like-minded Metafilterites (and visitors!) in Rio de Janeiro in the next couple of weeks? I'm not posting a bar yet, though I'd prefer somewhere around Lapa, because I'd like to see if there's any interest and where people are living/visiting...

Performance: Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives
The band for which I sing, strum, and write is playing in Harvard Square this Friday! Catchy rock with witty lyrics - what's not to love? 21+, nominal cover (like $3). Band page, myspace page, more song clips. If you want to say hi beforehand, I will be the guy in the buzzcut looking bored from waiting all night for his set to start. OK pub food if you get there earlier.

Meetup: Austin City Limits 2010
I'll be among the masses going to ACL this year, 8-10 October 2010. How about brunch on Sunday? Somewhere outside the park would be good, and those of us with tickets could head in afterward. I'm not a local, so ideas about a venue would be much appreciated, if anyone's interested.

Meetup: American in Beijing wants to grab some drinks!
I'm an American studying abroad in Beijing this semester, and I'd like to break out of the college bubble a little and meet some local Mefites. I obviously don't know the city all that well, so if people wanted to meet up, it'd probably be better for someone else to propose a venue. Anyone interested in meeting up sometime in the next few weeks?

Meetup: MeFi Toronto: The Ben Wicks on Parliament, Thursday, October 7
Put Up or Shut Up Dept.: After complaining for months that the Ben Wicks at 424 Parliament south of Carlton would be a perfect venue for a meetup, particularly if we could reserve the snug (“Lounge”) at the front of the place, I hereby propose such a meetup. Thursday night, October 7, at, say, 20:00 hours plus.

Meetup: London meetup
Metafiltrians of London, I will be in the capital on the evening of the 21st: does anyone fancy a wee meetup? I haven't yet sorted out accommodation and so forth, but I expect I'll be somewhere in the approximate vicinity of Imperial College. If people are up for it and know a good place to go nearby, please suggest it; I barely know London at all, so I'm relying on youse for ideas. I wasn't thinking of anything big, probably just drinks and maybe a meal. Hopefully see you in a week or so's time!
