What time is this happening? If Chicago-meetup-n00bs are welcome, this is right up my alley (small, craft, very close to my house). I've got an exercise thingie until 6:30 though, so I'd only be able to make it around 8 or later.

Oh duh 6 (sorry). Drats!

My contribution: paper and markers for spoke-card making, though

A) If you regularly come to Mefi meetups, you have to wait for me to laminate it for you and return it to you

B) If you don't think you'll see me again soon, then you have to laminate it yourself.

I think I'm going to make spoke cards for the imaginary bike gang of wimpy girls on mixtes that Windyfinch and Biblioknuckles and I are starting.

Booknerd - you can totally still come. I bet we'll still be going then. I was thinking we'd be at it until 9 or so.

I set it at 6 so people can stroll in whenever.

Juliet Banana - we will also make BUTTONS omg.

Here are some template pages: http://buttonmakers.net/blog/?p=36

That isn't the exact one I used, but the buttons my maker does is 1"

Oh, I just remembered I promised Finch to bring my loose mineral pigments for mixing up custom eyeshadow shades! Anyone who enjoys wearing eyeshadow is welcome to mix up a custom shade from my raw materials. I have the color wheel plus base filler, black, white, shimmery gold, and blue and iridescent glitter, so you can make a whole huge variety of colors.

My current favorite is a really dense purple with blue glitter in it used to line the eyes with a wet slant brush. Yes, I was a drag queen in another life.

OOHHH! You should teach me to make eyeshadow. (also, to put it on).

If we ask nicely, maybe we can put makeup on baxter_ilion.
posted by bibliogrrl at 5:46 PM on September 21, 2010

You don't even have to ask nicely.
posted by baxter_ilion at 5:47 PM on September 21, 2010

He'll even let us do his hair.
posted by bibliogrrl at 5:50 PM on September 21, 2010

You will have to ask nicely to do my hair. I don't take people touching my hair lightly. People poking at my eyes with pigment covered sticks, that's okay, but you gotta be careful with the hair.
posted by baxter_ilion at 5:53 PM on September 21, 2010

You would let us braid it. Duh.

Wait, doesn't he owe someone something because of something hitting someone in their face?

Yeah, he owes Juliet Banana a beer. AND THAT IS ALL SHE WILL GET. Ok, and probably more beer. We'll have to go get a couple of growlers. Mmmmmmmm

I WILL BRING THE SMIRNOFF ICE!

You want we should order in something to nosh on?
posted by Juliet Banana at 12:18 PM on September 23, 2010

Yeah, it just hit me with it being a work night most people will be coming directly over so we should think about getting dinner or ordering in. Or rather, I MUST EAT FOOD RAWR OR I WILL EAT KAREN'S KNITTING!
posted by Windigo at 12:25 PM on September 23, 2010

According to Fixie my mineral makeup is totally delicious.
posted by Juliet Banana at 12:29 PM on September 23, 2010

Will you be putting these crafts on Etsy for sale to those of us who can't make it?
posted by IndigoRain at 9:13 PM on September 23, 2010

We can order in, totally. Or we can cook some delicious soup (ahead of time).

Attention people who knit: these things look awesome.

This meetup sounds ridiculously awesome. Why does Chicago have to be so far away?

I memailed my address to all. Let me know if you have questions/whatever!

I'm going to dust the cobwebs off of my polymer clay and dress up my boring house keys like this little guy. Hopefully the clay is still good to work with--it's been a while since I've brought it out. We'll see.

You guys should bring keys of your own to make googly monsters with.
posted by phunniemee at 7:42 PM on September 29, 2010

omggggg. that key is AWESOME. We have a toaster oven!
posted by bibliogrrl at 9:40 PM on September 29, 2010

If anyone wants to bring snack type items, that would be cool. We will have some beer and mulled wine. We will also order pizza (or something. Most likely pizza)
posted by bibliogrrl at 6:48 PM on October 3, 2010

I'm going to be there closer to seven, thanks to work, boo. Feel free to count Claude and me in for two shares of whatever pizza gets ordered, we'll probably be there before it arrives and we're not picky.
posted by Juliet Banana at 9:24 AM on October 4, 2010

I like pizza! Yay!

I WILL TRY!
posted by Windigo at 12:23 PM on October 4, 2010

I'm bringing my spicy pumpkin* seeds tonight.

*So, you can't actually buy raw pumpkin seeds anywhere and I don't want to hack into a forreals pumpkin until Halloween because I intend to carve them and those suckers tend to rot, so I was planning to go to Trader Joe's and get their pre-roasted ones and do my thing to them and re-roast them and see if that worked, but apparently the pumpkin seeds (which they had in stock less than a week ago) are sourced from China and they're trying to phase them out so they didn't have any so I had to get raw pepitas, which are totally not the same thing no matter what the TJ's chick tries to tell you, but I'm going to make them and bring them anyway. Hopefully they'll be OK.

Success! Much thanks to baxter_ilion and bibliogrrl for hosting!

Thanks for putting up with us and pouring growly hefeweizen down my gullet! The cork board Claude and I keep our pin-back buttons on is getting RIDICULOUS.
