Japan Zoom Sunday, 12/27 8ish?
I keep meaning to propose another one of these, and it’d be a nice to hang out and chat and what have you again, possibly with a side of Among Us if anyone is up for it. [more inside]

Japan MeFi #???
Sorry, I said I’d set one up, but then it slipped my addled mind. Sunday’s at 8, right?
I’ve enjoyed these, and I’d hate for them to go away. On the other hand, if weekly is too much, that’s understandable.
Zoom飲み #12
Weekly Zoom meetup with whoever can make it. Sunday, June 28th 8pm Japan time.
Japan Zoom飲み #11
Because I'm so sure I'm going to forget doing this, here's the thread for Japan Virtual Meetup #11! Sunday, June 21 at 8 p.m. [more inside]
Japan Zoom飲み #10
It's week 10 of our continuing Zoom meetups! This Sunday, June 14th, at 8:00 pm (because nobody is watching the taiga drama this year anyway).
Tokyo Online Meetup #9
Same Zoom time, same Zoom channel. Meaning 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 7th for more conversation, trivia, etc. The link from last week should still be valid, but if you don't have it, post here and I'll forward it via MeMail.
Tokyo online meetup #8
State of Emergency may be over, but who wants to bother with taking the train when we can meet up on Zoom! Join us for week 8 of our Zoom meetup marathon. [more inside]
Tokyo online meetup #7
Hey everybody, Tokyo/Japan Metafilter is on a roll! Come join us for the seventh week in a row for some scintillating conversation, moments of trivia, desktop show and tell and whatever else we get up to. [more inside]
Tokyo / all-Japan special Greenery Day get-together
It's easy to lose track, but Golden Week is upon us! Let's celebrate Golden Week's Greenery Day (Monday, May 4) together!. We can all reminisce about Greenery Day events through the ages, exchange Greenery Day trivia (surprisingly, Greenery Day has nothing to do with the American rock band called Green Day), and discuss how Greenery Day has affected our lives. Do you remember where you were the year that "GD" was moved from April 29 to May 4? [more inside]
Japan Online Meetup NUMBER THREE!!!
Hey all. I don't know if you noticed this, but we're in uncharted territory here. If you look at the sidebar, it has a list of "most active cities" for meetups, and we're essentially in second place (a couple cities have had four, sure), and if we have another meetup this Sunday, boom, we'll be one of the most active cities/amorphous regional groupings in all of Metafilterland! Can't you just feel those competitive juices flowing, urging you on to meet once again on Sunday night at 8 for some light chat, witty observations, and hilarious jokes?
Edit: changed time to 8, longer explanation in the comments [more inside]
Japan-Wide Non-Meetup!
MeFites in Japan, unite! (While, of course, maintaining appropriate distance)
This upcoming Sunday (April 19) at 19:00 we'll be meeting on Zoom to chat and conviviate (that's probably not a real word). You're probably at home, you're probably going stir crazy, you probably want to meet new people or see familiar faces again, so you should join us! If you want to attend, say the word and we'll send you the Zoom meeting invite link via MeMail.
Tokyo 20th Anniversary Meetup
As suggested by Ghidorah in the MeFi 20 Planning Thread, maybe this could prompt us to get our act together and have a meetup without the impetus of a Mefite visiting from elsewhere? [more inside]
Tokyo on a Weekday
Hi, Mefites! I'm visiting Tokyo soon and will be there Oct 29 to Nov 2. I'd love to meet up and grab some food basically anywhere in the city. My evenings are essentially free and apart from Wednesday when I've got the Ghibli museum I'm down to get lunch as well.
Tokyo MeFites: You are overdue for a meetup
Can I tempt you out for snacks or dinner and beers? I'll be in Tokyo for a textile/fiber arts conference July 2, 3, and back again July 9 and would love to meet some of you in the evening(s). I now can only meet tomorrow July 3 instead of July 9. I will go to Kanda Craft Beer Market with MeFi loot for 6pm and hope that some of you can attend. [more inside]
Tokyo traveler + you??
I'm coming to Tokyo and would love to meet other MeFites. [more inside]
Tokyo Meetup!
Hey, everyone, I'm in Tokyo, until Sunday, October the 18th. Does anybody want to meet up?
Tokyo Meatup
I'm going to be in Japan for a few weeks and my only regret is that there are only three meals in a day because there's so much I want to try, including the fine American-style hand crafted meats at mefite Ghidorah's place Magical Animal. Join me? [more inside]
Visiting Tokyo!
Hello lovely Mefites of Tokyo! I will be visiting your amazing city for the first time and I would love to meet you. I will be staying in a hotel in the Ueno neighborhood, but I will happily go to anywhere you suggest. I'm hoping to see some unique Tokyo nightlife.
I was thinking the night of August 13th would be best. I land on the 12th and I fear I may be a bit jet lagged that day.
Tokyo Midsummer Meetup
I am in Tokyo for 6 nights, July 17-23. Would be great to have a meetup during that time. Haven't been in Tokyo for 15 years so no idea on what a great location might be, though someone mentioned Ghidorah's.
Tokyo Meet Up for ovenmitt
Mefite ovenmitt is going to be in Tokyo pretty soon, and mentioned she'd like to stop by my new shop in Omotesando. I've seen a good number of Tokyo Mefites in the last two weeks, but pretty much just one at a time. Maybe we can get together and have a proper meet up? We were mailing back and forth, and Tuesday, April 14th seemed to work best. [more inside]
Tokyo in late July
We're Aussies visiting Japan for the first time in late July, and would love to catch up with some MeFites to do, well, whatever! [more inside]
It's time for me to make you get together again, Tokyo!
There's a high probability that I'll be coming to Japan again. Dates are still being finalized, but it looks like I'll be in Tokyo the evening of November 8th. In the hopes that it becomes real, I'm creating a placeholder so that people can pencil the date in. [more inside]
A Midsummer Meetup!
Tragically, we don't have a Runes visit to celebrate or anything special like that, but why should we let that stop us? Let's get together and catch up and celebrate things! [more inside]
Cooking Dinner at RMH Hyde Park -- tokyo drift
RMH August DINNER: We continue to have a great time cooking dinner for people at the Hyde Park Ronald McDonald House (5444 South Drexel Avenue, Chicago, IL) so we're doing it again on 8/31/13 starting around 4:30 and finishing around 8:30. It's like a potluck that we all make together at their kitchen, and also feed families of sick kids. [more inside]
Hey Tokyo, I'm visiting again!
We had a very pleasant meetup last year. Feel like doing it again? I'm scheduled to be in Yokosuka again from April 7th to 27th so that's two possible weekends in that timespan. [more inside]
Tokyo Meetup
We'll be meeting at Bar Isshee, Shibuya to catch one of MeFite flapjax's shows! If you can get to shibuya a bit early, by 7:30, 23 and I will be outside Shibuya station by the bus-with-a-museum-inside that's right next to but less crowded than Hachiko.

Tokyo Meetup 2: Electric Boogaloo
His thoughts were red thoughts and misfish are coming to Tokyo, and would love to meetup with the Pacific Rim contingent for drinks, eats, and talks. [more inside]
Drinks, anyone?
Hoyland is still coming to town, but there wasn't a sudden upswell of people for the BBQ idea, so that's pretty much dead now. Flapjax has suggested Koenji, but that's a bit far for me, personally (although I'm sure it'll be an awesome show). Other than that, I don't know. There's various and sundry drinking establishments in Tokyo, and as mentioned, I'm partial to Yurakucho area, though reservations might be a good idea on a Saturday night. Any ideas?
Tokyo, anyone?
Meetup on Saturday the 28th of July. Somewhere in Tokyo--precisely where still under discussion. [more inside]
Promises kept
Back in the earthquake thread I made an offer to buy drinks for the folks in Tokyo. That trip got cancelled, but I'll be back over the weekend of April 14th. [more inside]
flapjax's new band, live in Akasaka, Tokyo
Brand new band, y'all, BIG SYSTEM, featuring yours truly plus Winchester Nii Tete, traditional kpanlogo drummer (plays a mean talking drum, too) from Accra, Ghana. We'll be tearing it up and all. All details and links here.
Smoke Benders live in Waseda, Tokyo
Last Smoke Benders show til... oh, sometime round December. Any of you Tokyo Mefites wanna come, it'd sure be great to see you. [more inside]
gomichild sayonara meetup
Small human & I are leaving for Cairns at the end of February - would love to catch up before we move on Feb 12 or 13. Probably afternoon and outside is better - maybe a picnic in Yoyogi park? Alternatively grabbing nikuman and gyoza in Chukagai, Yokohama and running wildly around Yamashita koen is fun too.
