I would like to meet some London mefites in April.

Sat April 5 at 7:00 PM, Penderels Oak
283-288 High Holborn, Holborn, London WC1V 7HP, UK (Map & Directions)
I moved to London last year but I have not managed to meet up with any London mefites yet, I feel like it would be fun to go to a pub and meet you guys. Perhaps we can bring board games or card games to play? The Penderel's Oak is a pub(wetherspoons) in the centre that I know is nice and big - would anyone like to have a london mefi meetup there next month? Edit: OK, 5th of April Then, I will bring a sign with a mefi logo on it and will be there from 7 till whenever. Please bring games if you have them. :)

Tentative date - 19th april, but if that is a bad day for multiple people there is flexibility to change it.

I work opposite that pub so if it was on a worknight I'd DEFINITELY be in!

However the 19th April is on easter weekend, so I'll be out of the city visiting family. It also happens to be my birthday so I'll probably be incapacitated by cake consumption.

Hello,

I would be in favour of something along these lines.
I know the Penderels Oak.
I will bring board games to play!

However it depends a bit on timing.
I probably can't do the Easter Saturday because it is prime boat fixing time.
Although I suppose it can't all be boat fixing time, so I'll put myself down as a maybe.

I'm moving to London in the next few weeks, so if timing works out I would love to come along.

Sure,

I'll put myself in as a maybe as well, just because I can't possibly plan more than three days ahead for anything at all.

I'm up for that. I know Penderel's Oak, but agree that Easter weekend isn't a good time for me.

Another maybe here.

Easter is something I didn't even consider because I had no idea at all when it was. We could say April 3rd or 5th depending on whether there is a preference for a weekend/weeknight?

I'd prefer April 5th to the 3rd.

Likewise.

We're also going elsewhere for Easter, and so in favour of a different weekend!

I would like to put in my vote for April 5th, with the games in the Penderels oak.

I could make April 5th as well, if it was during afternoon/late afternoon. Been too long since I was at a Mefi meetup!

If one of you guys has a couch you could spare for the weekend it happens on I might be able to join y'all.

Ack, won't be able to even say maybe this time. Have fun!

Keen. I can bring King of Tokyo and / or Carcassonne, if no-one else is?

If anyone's about in the afternoon, Penderel's Oak is more or less opposite Sir John Soane's Museum, which has an amazing-looking exhibition of Piranesi prints and 3D-printed artefacts taken from his drawings.

I'll try and make it, at least for a while.

I should be able to make it, looking forward to it.

I'm hoping to be able to make it. I'm getting over a bout of the flu so can't say for sure if I'll be fit enough.

Sorry, won't be able to make this after all.

if so then we definitely shouldn't both go, it could risk a collapse of the space-time continuum.

although this should have already happened when I voted #1 quidnunc kid, so we're probably fine.

Luckily I am precluded from Saturday evening meetups under the orders of quark, new-born issue.

Weeknight peri-birthday drinks, however, may need to take place in order to solve the sock puppet mystery one and for all.

I warn readers that - like Holmes' ultimate showdown with Moriarty - such an encounter may raise more conundra than it solves.

"Once" and for all, I mean. A true sock puppet wouldn't have made such an error, ergo I must be the original.

Please bring whatever games you have! I mostly game on my iPad or at clubs so the suggestions to bring games was totally an excuse to get to play a few other peoples favourites.

Please accept: (a) my joyful wish that you all have a fun time; (b) a long-belated "welcome to London" to Another Fine Product From The Nonsense Factory; (c) a less-belated "welcome to London" to knapah; (d) my hopes for a speedy recovery from the flu to essexjan; (e) a single raised eyebrow at greenish, who is obviously my new supervillan arch-nemesis.

So I just noticed this and I will probably drop by.

Sorry, I'm not going to make this. I was almost recovered from the flu but the smog has done for me. Smog + respiratory illness = Saturday spent recuperating.

Have fun, guys. I'm gutted to miss this. I was going to bring Cards Against Humanity with me. Not quite a board game, but lots of fun for people with a low taste threshhold. Next time.

So this whole moving to London and starting a new job thing means that I underestimated quite how significantly unpacking and organising would fill my weekends.

Consequently, I won't be able to make it tonight, but hopefully there will be more meetups in the near future when my life is a little less dominated by cardboard boxes and rearranging furniture.

Have fun!

quidnunc - lets settle this. I challenge you to a sock-off, in the traditional style of us handslap-fighting like nerds and screaming I'M THE REAL ONE, THEY'RE THE FAKE at onlookers. We can call it birthday celebrations.
