Is everyone finding this thread ok?

The fuzziness!!!!

I need to log last week's baby dancing and TV jogging.

My new baby broke out in a huge smile when I danced with him for the first time. That's the first time I've really seen in smile. Anyis has more dancing in his future. Denison loves to be dipped. He throws his head back.

I just added my time for the past month-plus because I fell off the logging wagon. Apologies, it is great to be back!

We have walked for 307.1 hours and are 921.2 miles into our 5141.6 mile journey.

That is honestly remarkable. The amount of miles we have left may seem daunting but we have nearly gone 1,000 miles collectively. Yay us!

Many thanks for continuing to lead us every onward, aniola! I truly appreciate it, and virtual hugs to all who want 'em.

Can I contribute with Ring Fit Adventure?

That is up to aniola but since we are tracking hours, that seems doable to me, a mere bystander.

Speaking of aniola, pls tell us more about "2 total hours walking per day instead of a pheromone collar is working! yaaaaay no more pheromone collars for the dog!" which is a mystery to me. Still, sounds like congratulations are in order: Congrats!

Thank you for doing this. Do I use the Google form or enter data directly into the spreadsheet?
posted by paduasoy at 4:06 AM on December 29, 2020

Ooohhh! I missed this the first time, but was just trying to think of a way to motivate myself to start using my recumbent bike again. Iā€™m in and will begin Jan 1!
Andā€”I would like the answer to paduasoyā€™s question as well.

paduasoy & bookmammal - I think everyone is using the form, but if you'd rather enter directly into the spreadsheet, let me know and I can give you access.

Bella Donna, we got a pheromone collar for my housecat-sized dog when they were new because they were petrified of everything. Pheromone collars work great, I had seen it before from petsitting. I figured I could wean them off of it, but every time I tried, they would go from coming when called, cuddling, etc, to squeezed under a furniture, or in the farthest corner, or wherever. They would also start doing this about 3.5 weeks into wearing a new pheromone collar.

But then recently this last batch of pheromone collars (same brand) smelled extremely chemically, and my dog was looking super-uncomfortable wearing them. Bad batch. And I was like, maybe you just need a ton of exercise, rain or shine. Let's try it. So now me and my partner and my little dog are walking 2 hours per day, and we're all three of us in better moods for it. So now my dog seems quite content without the pheromone collar.

I am hoping the disincentive of not wanting to buy pheromone collars if I don't have to, plus the strong disincentive of not wanting my dog cowering in a corner will be enough to keep this up long-term.

Thanks for the reminder! I forgot to log for a while but imagine that I'm sprinting to catch up.

Lot's of baby dancing today. I definitely need to catch up on my logging. Maybe I should put it into my habit tracker to remind myself.

Happy New Year from the Puffin Pirate crew!

We have left the bathypelagic zone and are now in the abyssopelagic zone! Current ocean depth is ~4300m, a depth at which there is no sunlight, crushingly high pressure, nearly freezing temperatures, and very little oxygen. Some crazy animals are still found in that region, including:

Deep Sea Anglerfish
Tripod Fish
Dumbo Octopus
Cusk Eel
Abyssal grenadier

P.S. Thank you all for bringing a ray of sunshine into this sucky year, your updates are so fun to read and I love miscellaneous useless research so I've been having an amazing time with this project! If there are end-of-year prizes for mefi posts, I think aniola wins one for this idea! Keep peregrinating, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Bella Donna Is it because of the bird or the trails? :) This was my second time going out on the local trails by myself because the running group stopped group runs... They're not exactly remote, lost-ness would be short-term since it's never more than a couple miles from a major road in any direction, but I was still pretty proud of myself!

We have walked for 757.7 hours and are 2273.1 miles into our 5141.6 mile journey!

Just updated my motion hours for Dec. 29 through Feb. 26. Honestly, I need to make this a weekly thing. Only 304.5 miles to our half way point! Thanks to aniola for starting this awesome trek and to everyone else for joining the journey.

It's spring in my part of Sweden; we have mud instead of ice in most places. :-) Happy spring!

I realize I've entirely forgotten about entering anything far more often than not. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to badly reconstruct months of stuff, but will try to remember to log hours in the future. This is fun.

Heyy you're right, Bella Donna. We're not quite halfway there yet! I had been looking at cell c14 in the "are we there yet?" tab, which had a calculation error. We are 44.29% of the way there!

MonkeyToes - There's not a rule for that yet, so you will have to make one. Then I will decree that it is so, and it will be the rule for all time.
