Oh snack! MetaFilter's 25 year anniversary is this weekend! East Bay (and other Bay Area) mefites, let's meet up! I couldn't think of an easy venue that is outdoors and works with who-knows-how-many-people, except for my back yard! Come hang out and eat some food! Sunday, Jul 14, 2pm until close. As above, my vacation dates in San Francisco are confirmed, but I’d love it if you’ll share your fav local-best-kept-secret-fun-things/places (as an former Londoner/multi-East coaster, it’s been a decade since I was last in SF!) and as a bonus, also your company to join ne at restaurants with *outdoor seating* in the Bay area (breakfast/brunch, lunch, or dinner)! Update: We're meeting at Besties Cool Treats, at Liberty Station in Point Loma, on Sunday afternoon. Besties (Suite 103, in the "Quarter" district) has ice cream, sorbet, gelato, frozen yogurt, cookies, smoothies, popcorn, and açaí bowls; coffee options include mochas, lattes, and cappuccinos. I am growing a ton of mint from cuttings and I have several pepper plants I am growing from seed. One of these plants is mine- that leaves 4 extra. I anticipate in late June/early July I will have even more things from seed/cuttings. I have been giving some away as gifts to my best friend and my favorite bartender- but this is getting ridiculous. I don't want to compost viable plants. I propose on one of my days off (all on weekdays, and I wont know which for a bit) we meet at my local bar/restaurant The Dark Horse Inn on Geneva at 5pm-10pm on a to be determined weekday in late June/early July and we can all have a chill hang and eat and drink and support a local place and maybe some of you can give my plants a new home. I’ve been taking a course with the SF Neo-Futurists for the past few weeks, and we’re doing our class show this Wednesday!
The staple Neo-Futurist show is The Infinite Wrench, an ongoing attempt to successfully perform 30 plays in 60 minutes. Since this is a class show, we’ll be making a smaller attempt: 20 plays in 40 minutes! (Slightly reduced number of plays! Same degree of difficulty!)
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll hopefully think about performance in a new way.
You’ll pay nothing and depart with valuable experience!
Seriously though: I love the neo-futurist aesthetic and I think it’s a wonderful thing for anyone to experience in any form. I’d be really happy if some fellow MeFites wanted to come and see what the fuss is about.
