Sat September 28 at 3:30 PM, Cake de Partie
4685 Convoy St, San Diego, CA, USA (Map & Directions)
UPDATED UPDATE: Set for Saturday, Sept. 28, 3:30 p.m. - Cake de Partie in Kearny Mesa, with chatting & snacking.
UPDATE: Set for Saturday, Sept. 28, 3:15 p.m. - Ad Astra, IMAX screening, at AMC Mission Valley 20; followed by discussion within the mall, TBD, 5:30 p.m.

As discussed in this previous meet-up thread, I'm suggesting a movie outing to Ad Astra for Saturday afternoon, September 28th.

Would the AMC Mission Valley 20 suit, as a central location? Plentiful parking, and it's on the trolley line.

With an after-movie chat to take place somewhere in the adjacent mall.

Ad Astra synopsis, via Rotten Tomatoes: Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father [Tommy Lee Jones] and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

If you can make the movie but not the conversation after, or vice-versa, please know that's cool.

Less interested in the movie than the after!

I think I'm free that day! A friend of mine was interested in seeing this too, I'll see if he wants to come along.

I'd vote for IMAX at 315 or 630!
My friend can't come but I will.

Hey folks. I can't make it this time, but Ad Astra looks great, and I very much support this meetup model! Maybe it could be a semi-reg movie club thing? I'd be very down for next time. Iris thanks for organizing!

The Minotaur, you'll be missed! (Also: ideas -> subscription -> newsletter, mos def)

Updating the post for the 3:15 p.m. showing tomorrow, with hopes of finding a relatively non-noisy place to chit the chat after the movie. Anyone interested in the second portion of this meet-up, we'll be outside the theater entrance, mall-side, around 5:30 p.m. and will amend the thread.

Is anyone actually wanting to go to the movie itself? If not, maybe we should just meet up to chat!
We could go to Cake de Partie on Convoy—centrally located and not super loud, with very tasty food and desserts.
Or a different Liberty Station place...my sewing class is in Point Loma so I’ll be over there already.

Fine by me, and Cake de Partie looks neat; I've reached out to artlung for his take.

Not best pleased with how the above post reads; while artlung remains a maybe, he sent a reply text okaying the change prior to the update.
(I may float trial balloons, but our IRL meet-ups are resolved by committee, not decree.)

And I'm bringing limes from the tree in my yard, not that it should be the deciding factor for anyone.

I and my girlfriend are in!

Thank you for the passion fruit, & the fascinating inside-baseball on publishing! I loved seeing an advance copy of "The Little Women Cookbook," it's gorgeous.
