Time for our regularly scheduled monthly meetup at the Billy Goat, plus a very important PSA: Mother's Day is the Sunday after this meetup! If you're at this meetup and haven't figured something out yet, you're setting yourself up for failure. Don't let it happen to you. [more inside]
Beers and conversation (but not too loud!) at our monthly Manhattan stop on the weekly-meetup tour.
I'll be in Taipei from May 19 to May 23, and I'm interested in meeting up with anyone else who will be around. Looking for suggestions for places and times. [more inside]

It's back to my neck of the woods this week, as I'm recovering from a pretty gnarly back injury, and I'm trying to keep my travel to a minimum. (Next week we'll venture forth again!)
All bonafide taters are invited to Joe Sent Me, Wednesday at 7:30pm to stomp out the potato poseurs at Geeks Who Drink trivia.

Anybody want to do something? We're from New Orleans. We'd like to bicycle around and do stuff.
I expect to be in St. Louis, MO, Saturday evening/Sunday a.m. Would enjoy meeting MeFites for Sunday brunch. I have a commitment (Int. Folk Dancing, in case there are others out there) 7:00 pm Sat., but a beer beforehand would work. I'm sort of meeting up and dancing my way home to Maine. 11 a.m. Sunday, somebody pick a spot. Not actually a double post. [more inside]
I expect to be in Lawrence, KS, Friday evening/Saturday a.m. Would enjoy meeting MeFites for Saturday brunch. I have a commitment 7:30 pm Fri.(Int. Folk Dancing, in case there are others out there), but a beer beforehand would work. I'm sort of meeting up and dancing my way home to Maine.
Mefite ovenmitt is going to be in Tokyo pretty soon, and mentioned she'd like to stop by my new shop in Omotesando. I've seen a good number of Tokyo Mefites in the last two weeks, but pretty much just one at a time. Maybe we can get together and have a proper meet up? We were mailing back and forth, and Tuesday, April 14th seemed to work best. [more inside]
I will be in Chicago for some work-related stuff and would love to meet Chitown MeFites. The evenings I'm free are April 18-21, and I'm staying in the downtown hotels area. I'm open to going anywhere that is accessible via public transportation. Let's hang out! [more inside]

You ask and we deliver! It's an evening of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and Look Around You, projected on a bigger screen than either show's resolution probably warrants. Details inside. [more inside]

Hey there, Bay area mefites! I'll be visiting 7-13th of April and would like to have a meetup with some Metafilter-people. This will be my first trip outside Europe. I've also never been to a Metafilter meetup, so let's have one! [more inside]
Edit: We have moved to Perdition, since the Three Monkeys was a madhouse. As suggested by hactar, we're going to try The Three Monkeys in Midtown. Start time this week is 7pm. And as far as I can tell from their website, there will be no terrible open mics.
This will be my first time in Seattle, and I'm considering a move there, and I only know about 3 (albeit awesome) people there. My preference is for the evening/happy hour of Thursday March 19 but I could do any evening except Saturday the 21st, if there's another day that works well for more people. [more inside]
Well, we broke the total snowfall record. Thanks, Smarch weather! So to celebrate (?), let's answer Geeks Who Drink trivia questions at Joe Sent Me, Wednesday at 7:30.
Edit: We are decamping to one stop beer shop on Kingsland to avoid the open mic here at Boulevard. One more in my new neighborhood before I acquiesce and choose a Manhattan location for next week. I'm setting the starting time for this one at 7, since I'll be coming from work, but I can change it to 6:30pm if others want to start without me.
A meetup in the memory of Terry Pratchett. It was great going through his obit thread the other day. Terry's books influenced me a lot and helped me think about so many things in so many new ways. And I think, it would be a good idea to get together to give Terry a hearty, joyous send off. We could all come together, assume names from list of characters from his writings, may be even dress like some of them and discuss, drink and celebrate life, his and our own. [more inside]
As discussed at the Keg & Lantern meetup: I'm resurrecting the weekly meetup. This time, it's on Wednesday.

I would love to meet any and all local mefites, but I've never been here and know nothing. Hope Me! Edit: Dinner at Marination Ma Kai on the 16th at 7 it is! Hope to see many of you there! After last week's tribute to Nimoy (is there something in my eye?) we're back on track with "The Measure of a Man", said to be the first truly great episode of ST:TNG, where our heroes grapple with the question of Data's personhood. Plus, weird blue drinks as usual. [more inside]
Two things have come to my attention: 1) There is, somehow, not an active MeFi meetup in San Francisco. 2) Mathowie is gonna be in SF next week. Let's use those two bits of information to have a good time. [more inside]

I'm back in town with my sister, staying in an AirBnB place in Surrey Quays/Rotherhithe. Would love to meet up for dinner/drinks on Thursday. Doesn't have to be right near here but would be nice if it was easily public transportationable from here. Who is in and can suggest a place? [more inside]

FOGcon, a literary sf convention, is happening on March 6-8 in Walnut Creek. This year's theme is The Traveller. "From The Odyssey to Dr. Who, Margery Kempe to Alyx, the Traveler is an iconic figure. This trope evokes a whole class of stories in both SF and fantasy in a compact and emotionally suggestive form....We will explore such topics as modes of travel, evolving attitudes toward the idea of an alien realm, the range of metaphors travel stands for, changing expectations about the experience of earthly or space travel, and how to be an extreme wilderness hiker - or an extreme hitchhiker. And lots more. Honored Guests: Kim Stanley Robinson, Catherynne M. Valente, Joanna Russ (posthumous)." [more inside]
