CHANGE OF DATE! Last time we went was six (!) years ago and we had a lot of fun. Let's go back and do another hike in the Blue Hills, Greater Boston's favorite hills! [more inside]
Board games. Blue Shirt Cafe in Davis Square.
Sunday the 28th Sunday, June 11th at 2:00 PM. You know the drill, and if you don't know it, we'll be happy to teach it to you. Bring any games you'd like to play, and don't worry too much about winning or losing. [more inside]
As we do every other weekend, let's meet at the Blue Shirt Cafe in Davis Square at 2:00 to play board games. This time, let's meet on Saturday, May 13th, rather than Sunday the 14th, since that Sunday is Mother's Day. As always, bring any games you'd like and make requests in the thread. [more inside]
The weather has improved. Daylight Savings has pushed sunset to a later, less depressing hour. It's the perfect time to sit indoors and squint at each other. Let's play board games at the Blue Shirt Cafe at 2:00 on Sunday, April 30th. Bring any games you like. If you'd like to play a game you don't own, request it here. [more inside]

Sunday, February 5th Sunday, February 12th Sunday, February 19th!The last meetup went really well and the venue is excellent. That said, this is flexible, so if people EDIT: or Nature Herself would strongly prefer a different time, date, or venue, I'm willing to change it. [more inside]
Any interest in meeting up and marching together at Boston Women's March for America this Saturday? From their site: "Can I attend... if I am not a woman? Yes, everyone who believes that women’s rights are human rights is invited!" [more inside]
The last time we met to play board games went well. Let's ring in the new year with a session at the Blue Shirt Cafe on Sunday, January 22nd, from 2:00 to whenever we want to leave. People can bring their own games of whatever genre and difficulty they like. If people would prefer to meet at a different time or date, I'm sure we can work something out. [more inside]
Since MeFi has a lot of ukulele players, I'd like to propose a flash mob for 20 January to protest the inauguration of the Ratfuck Elect. Location and song TBA. Who's with me?
Has anyone ever proposed a meet up and then not shown up? I'd love to grab dinner and beer with some Boston MeFites while I'm in town working but I may have to be a jerk and cancel at the last minute. [more inside]
It's been a while since we had a board game meetup in this area, so let's see whether there's interest in a new one. One of us could host it, or we could meet at a restaurant such as the Blue Shirt Cafe on Davis Square or a conveniently large Panera Bread like the one near Fenway Park. Based on past meetups, Knight Moves seems to have been a bust. A weekend, which would allow for the most play time, would probably be best. When and where sounds best to you all? EDIT:Let's meet at the Blue Shirt Cafe on Davis Square at 2:00 on Sunday, October 30th! Feel free to bring any game or games you'd like to play.
In the Pokémon Go thread, Room 641-A commented that it would be a good meetup activity. Shall we prove her right? [more inside]
I'll be in Boston this weekend, visiting with my boyfriend, and we'd like to do Boda Borg, but with just the two of us, we're one short of the minimum team number (3-5 people per team). Is anyone interested and available? We could do Sunday or Monday, whichever works better. *Edit: Confirmed for Monday, May 31 at 1:30* [more inside]
The last card-game meetup went well, so let's have another one. Let's meet at the library next Sunday, May 1st, at 1:00. That time and venue are flexible: If people would prefer a different time or place, I'll change it.
Does anyone in the Boston area want to meet up and play cards? I'm open to any games less complicated than Bridge and more interesting than War. I don't know any great venues for card-playing off the top of head, but I'm sure we can think of something. Even if you don't know any games yourself, you're welcome to come: For my part, I'll bring one of those big books of card games. EDIT: Let's meet at the Cambridge Public Library at 1:00 this Sunday, April 17th! If not enough people can make that time, date, or place, then all of those things are flexible.
Anyone feel like getting together to play board games somewhere in the Boston area? I'm open to any venue people can think of, as long as it's fairly convenient for everyone. EDIT: We'll play board games at cogitron's house at 7:00 PM on Saturday the 26th. Feel free to bring whatever games you'd like. If you'd like to come, just MeMail cogitron for the address. The address listed here is not the actual address for the meetup.
Five years ago we had a celebratory/commiseration brunch to celebrate the end of the MIT Mystery Hunt on MLK Monday. I had fun meeting a bunch of MeFites, and I'd like to do it again now that I'm coming back on-site! Who's available, who are you representing, what are the good eateries for a brunch/lunch around MIT, and what do you have in the Coin Pool? (I claim 40 hours) [more inside]
Based on the response to the recent MegaGames post on the Model -U.N.-Meets-Alien-Invasion game "Watch the Skies," I would be remiss if I did not point out that a similar MegaGame, "From Beyond" is playing in Cambridge, MA next week run by MegaGames United.

Any Boston mefites want to hang, on Saturday, August 29?
The Taters are coming to kick ass at trivia and chew bubblegum, and we still have plenty of bubblegum, but that's OK because we're perfectly capable of doing two things at once. Geeks Who Drink trivia, Wednesday at Joe Sent Me.
Would anyone like to meet at Knight Moves in Brookline to play board games? It bills itself as New England's only board game cafe and has a wide selection of games to play. I'm fairly sure it allows customers to bring their own games as well. There's a cover charge of $10 Thursday through Sunday and $5 Monday through Wednesday. What times and dates would work for people? UPDATE: Come to Knight Moves near Coolidge Corner on August 29th at 6:00 PM to play some board games! [more inside]
Shakespeare on the Common is putting on performances of King Lear until August 9th, and one of them is on Wednesday the 29th at 8:00 PM. This is the IRL post for people interested in going to see that one!

True to their tuber roots (see what I did there?) spring is the time when all true Taters head inside to a dark room to answer trivia questions.
That last part may not be true of potatoes.
That last part may not be true of potatoes.
It's Wednesday night at Joe Sent Me, where the Taters all gather for Geeks Who Drink trivia--no foolin'!
Tomorrow at 7:30pm is a dark time for the Taters. [more inside]
The Brattle Theater in Cambridge is playing a series of David Lynch movies from Monday, February 23rd to Thursday, March 5th. Anyone want to go see one of them? I'm interested in Dune and Blue Velvet, since those are playing on the weekend, but would be up for pretty much anything in the series. EDIT: We're going to see Dune on Friday the 27th. I'd rather go at 7:00, but if outvoted, 9:30 is also fine.
We apologize for the fault in this week's trivia meetup post title. Those responsible have been sacked. Please meet at Joe Sent Me at 7:30 PM for Geeks Who Drink. [more inside]
I am in Boston for a conference from the 23rd to the 25th of October, dates in town from the 22nd to the 26th or so. The conference is at Harvard Div. Pint? EDIT: John Harvard, 8:30, Friday.
UPDATE: Change of venue this week--we're heading to Orleans in Davis Square. Big money cash prizes await!
An in-person meetup to play Blizzard's online card game, Hearthstone. We can play against each other, shoulder-surf each other's Arenas, etc. Location and time TBD. Beer would be nice, wifi required. (EDIT: Hearthstone runs on Mac and PC, and iPad 2 or later.) [more inside]
How about a pretty short, slow, sweet little bike ride on the Minuteman trail (or, a walk option instead)? And some lunch? OK, last chance, you 'Maybes!' If no one but cocoagirl and me are there at 10:30, and no one has switched to 'Attending,' then she and I may head elsewhere instead of to Spy Pond. But if anyone does switch to 'Attending,' then we'll see you at Spy Pond as planned. So, if you'll be there, switch over your response! [more inside]
Although the Queen of Taters will be attending an academic conference in the Great Northwest, she has given us permission to hold a Geeks Who Drink trivia meetup in her absence, this Wednesday at Joe Sent Me.
Drink some beer (or other beverage of your choice) in Harvard Square. [more inside]
Let's try this again... Come play games at our house in Natick! Have a beer! Maybe eat a taco! May 31st 7:00PM - 11:00PM. [more inside]
What are you doing on Friday, April 11th? My son will be away which means Mrs. Bondcliff and I can, like, have people over and not worry about keeping him up! Want to come over to play some games? [more inside]
I mean, it can't last forever, right? Right? PLEASE OH GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! DO I HAVE TO MAKE A BURNT OFFERING TO THE WINTER GODS OR WHAT?! [more inside]
Backseatpilot, Horace Rumpole and I had such a good time playing pool at the last meet up that I thought I'd see if there'd be any interest in having another with that in mind. Anyone else down for a couple games of 8 ball? [more inside]
gingerbeer and I will be in Boston from November 2nd through the 6th. She's there for a conference, I'm there for a nostalgia tour and just to hang out. We'd love to meet up with you. [more inside]

Hey guys! We won $300 cash money in the Geek Elite trivia tournament. So this is the thread where we figure out what to do with our winnings. [more inside]
I just moved to Medford with my best bro, grobstein. I would love to meet up! We LOVE mefites! This weekend, let's meet Saturday 2pm at The Burren in Davis Square, which has outdoor seating and should be lovely.
We're holding a board-and-card-games meetup at backseatpilot's house at 1:00 p.m. on September 22! The given address is not backseatpilot's: If you're coming, MeMail him your RSVP by Wednesday the 18th and he'll send back the location. If you have beginner-to-mid-level games to bring (something not totally impossible to teach to new players), feel free to bring them. [more inside]
I (and my Mefi-frequenting +1) will be in Boston Labor Day weekend. Would any Mefites from the Great North be interested in having a meetup? Perhaps at one of the bars y'all suggested for me last year? (The ones I made it to were great, btw.) Perhaps sometime on 8/31 or 9/1?
I'm passing through Boston (Arlington), visiting my cat, and... dining with Mefites on Friday, August 9? What d'ya say?
