Okay - let me preface this by saying that I don't really want to be the center of attention. But dammit, after spending 6 months in Moscow, Idaho (long story) I demand a meetup upon my return to Seattle.

stet and I are going to Ballard FM tomorrow. It is open 10am - 3pm. We will probably be there by about 11am, and hang around until at least noon, probably more like 1-2pm. Would anyone like to meet at Hattie's or Bastille or [insert place that is better to hang out because we don't know Ballard anymore].

I will be hosting card, word, board and strategy games in my home in Beacon Hill this Saturday. IMPORTANT: The address given here is of the VA hospital, which is very nearby my home (metafilter will not allow me to simply use cross-streets and I don't feel comfortable posting my address). Actual address will be memailed to those who RSVP.
Start time is 3 PM, and end time is whenever the last person leaves. Feel free to come whenever you want and leave whenever you want. Also feel free to bring games or come gameless. Libations and refreshments will be provided, though additional are also welcome.

I'm wondering if there is enough interest to have a non-RPG gaming session in one of the more southern neighborhoods of Seattle. I could host in my home in Beacon Hill (preferred), or at a public venue somewhere not incredibly far away, such as Georgetown, Capitol Hill, or Seward Park. Tuesday or Fridays work best for me (anytime), second choice would be Sunday late afternoon/evening, third choice would be Saturday. Saturdays that would work for me in the foreseeable future are October 20th and November 10th. Sundays that
wouldn't work are October 28th and November 4th.

I am in Seattle for business
THIS THURSDAY the 20th. I am staying at the SilverCloud Inn near the stadium.
We should get drinks at
Hooverville, because I can walk there from the hotel.

You might have seen the post about the
ENCODE project. grouse was on that giant project of multi-team, collaborative, awesomeness. Any other project participants welcome to hit me up for a beer too!
And anyway, we haven't had a meetup in a while (that I've actually gone to) so this may just be an excuse to have a meetup.

Seattle hasn't seen much meet-up action lately, we've discussed a meet up in Greenwood before, how about we make it happen? Possible dates: Sometime in the next few weeks. Possible venue:
Naked City?

Hiya, folks! I'm in Seattle for, I'm guessing, about a week. I've got one meetup scheduled for The Unicorn Bar at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 26 April, but I'm open to another, more MeFi-specific gathering if Emeralders prefer.

I have spent the evenings of Christmas Day, New Year's Day and a number of Sundays since bowling with a friend at
Imperial Lanes in Rainier Valley. We have had a wonderful time every time. Experience strongly suggests a meetup there on another Sunday evening would work out fine. Especially since this time it seems fairly likely that it will not be snowing.
So, I thought I would submit the place --
again -- for a bowling meetup on April 15th.

*****CANCELLED: The Greenwald talk has been cancelled. We'll have a meetup another time.******
Glenn Greenwald is speaking at the University of Washington on civil liberties erosion, on Thursday April 5th at 7:00pm. Perhaps it would be fun to attend the event and then head to the Avenue for drinks after?

I spent the evenings of both Christmas Day and New Year's Day bowling with a friend at
Imperial Lanes down in Rainier Valley. We had a wonderful time. I can't say what it would be like on a regular night, but there were plenty of lanes open both times we went. I can't speak for what it would be like on a weeknight but I suspect another Sunday evening would work out fine.
So, I thought I would submit the place as a bowling meetup venue.

From the depths of
AskMe and
IRL was born Big Ideas Social club, a part-salon, part-gabfest about getting together at bars and chatting about neat ideas, works of art and creations that make us happier people. A year later, I'm ready to bring it to my newly adopted Seattle.

Hey Seattle MeFites, I'm moving to your neck of the woods to go to UW in September. Let's meet up so you can teach me the ways of this ornery town.

I got myself up and married about a week ago in the midwest and we're having a Seattle wedding reception this weekend in the Lower Woodland Park. It's going to be a big potluck filled with people from UW and the two big software shops in town and I'd love if some of you can make it too. It probably wouldn't be very great in terms of a meetup meetup because there will (hopefully) be like 100 other people there, but since I've met a lot of you through past meetups, consider yourselves invited!

Who's up for a drink followed by some Lovecraftian horror?
Whisperer in Darkness is coming to the
Seattle International Film Festival, with showings on June 3 at midnight and on June 5 at 9 - rather boringly I favour the 9 o'clock showing as I have to bve tucked up in bed by midnight but I am open to arguments.

I'll be in Seattle the weekend of April 8-10, and I'd love to see you all. Yes, all of you.
Saturday evening works best for me - 7:30? 8 pm? But I leave it to more experienced Seattleites to choose a venue.
mrzarquon will be in town as well, so you get two for the price of one! Site confirmed: Shorty's it is! Thanks, Jawn - one of us will search you out to let you know we're there.

I'm in town for the weekend, and was already planning to meet with folks at
Shorty's before knowing about Jordan, Jess GO!. But I am stubborn and propose we meet there again. And then I am planning to go to the
Cinerama's 3D showing of Tron Legacy at 7pm, for those who want to come along.

That tattered fragment of the ghost of its former self, the
Fun Forest sees its last weekend ever fall on the first weekend of the New Year. After 7 PM, Sunday, January 2nd, 2011, there will no more rides, games, lazer tag or bumper cars. So, I propose
Bumper Cars at 5 PM and then, after 7 PM, conversations that sparkle like wine, with finger foods and beverages on the side, at a warm, convivial and comfortable venue location to be determined later but not far from the Seattle Center. Maybe a venue along the lines of the 1st Avenue Elysian--that was a fun meetup...

I just remembered that the Fun Forest will be gone soon and wanted to propose a bumper car meet up before it closes.

Word on the street (thanks lattiboy!) is that
Cactus on Alki has a very good happy hour from 3-6. Food is really great and $5 margaritas are very boozy. 3PM Sunday @ Cactus on Alki sound good to people?
