Brooklyn never left, of course. I did, but I'm coming back this fall and in the meantime, I want to go ahead and get the weekly meetup rolling at a ... slightly less than weekly pace. So how about this Saturday, the 16th, we all come on down to commonwealth; a "pretty decent bar" in the south slope, at 4pm or so? [more inside]

The time for happy birthday dim sum is here - this year at Bamboo Garden, in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
I want to go to Tamara Shopsin's reading with John Hodgman at Books Are Magic if work doesn't wear me out too much. If you'd like to come too, that'd be cool! We could also get dinner and/or drinks at one of many nearby drinking and dining establishments (like Leyenda, perhaps?). [more inside]

This time out, we'll be chatting about the challenges inherent in "the unalienable right to pursue happiness," whether unhappiness is mostly caused by the gap between who we are and who we want to be, and whether it's really happiness we lack when we feel unhappy. Please join us for drinks and conversation at the next Salon in Brooklyn, on October 27, 2016 at 7:30 PM. (Note new date) [more inside]
This time out, we'll be chatting about whether you are your friend's friend, what happens when we feel lonely, and the benefits of solitude. Has it really been 3 years since the last dog meetup? I just adopted a new dog [!!] and I'd like to see how he gets along with other dogs, and also to make sure that he knows about metafilter. Perhaps Prospect Park again, on a weekend late morning or afternoon fairly soon?
I'm doing it again! This time there will be no questions about Canada. $20 bar tab for the winner!
Hey there, NYC MeFites! My wife and I will be filling in as trivia hosts this Wednesday at dog-friendly Gowanus watering hole Canal Bar and it would be great to meet some of you as we stumble our way through what will no doubt be a gaffe-prone debut.
Our regular Brooklyn meetups resume at the well-regarded drinking establishment Whole Foods, with a rooftop bar overlooking the scenic Gowanus Canal.
For those who want a weeknight option instead of/in addition to all the weekend meetups we've been having lately.
They've got a variety of draft beers, and a menu of both meat and vegan sausages and sides. Fries and pretzel sticks also good for nomming. Edit: Accidentally posted this for Thursday when I meant to do Wednesday. Fixed now!
Hey, I'm coming to Brooklyn on the weekend of June 5th to beat around and be a tourist for a bit. Anyone want to get drinks/dinner in the area? I heard the 4th Avenue Pub was good, but I don't know the area, so I'm open to other venues, and any time between Friday afternoon and Saturday night is fine by me. EDIT: Let's go to Mission Dolores! If people would prefer a different time, I'm definitely open to changing that until like a week before I come down.
Sorry for the late post! I hope to see y'all Thursday evening.
It's back to my neck of the woods this week, as I'm recovering from a pretty gnarly back injury, and I'm trying to keep my travel to a minimum. (Next week we'll venture forth again!)
To quote 1970s Antihero: "Let's meet up and drink beers. Because we're adults and we can."
Edit: We are decamping to one stop beer shop on Kingsland to avoid the open mic here at Boulevard. One more in my new neighborhood before I acquiesce and choose a Manhattan location for next week. I'm setting the starting time for this one at 7, since I'll be coming from work, but I can change it to 6:30pm if others want to start without me.
As discussed at the Keg & Lantern meetup: I'm resurrecting the weekly meetup. This time, it's on Wednesday.
For the next three months, Josh and I are going to be living in Greenpoint (right on the border of Williamsburg) and I'd love to get together with mefites somewhere in the general neighborhood this Thursday evening. I'm near the Graham Avenue stop on the L, or Nassau on the G. Where should we go?
I'm going to be in NYC the weekend of April 25th, and I'd love to organize an outing to the bottle beach at Dead Horse Bay in Brooklyn. Anyone interested? [more inside]
It appears that I am going to be finding myself alone on Valentine's Day night in NYC. Let's drink! [more inside]

Weekly meetup! Lives again? [more inside]
edit: Friday, December 26 at the 4th Ave Pub it is then! See you all there! Original: NY Mefites! I'll be in New York from Christmas Day till New Year and I'd like to meet any and all of you. My schedule is open so far* and a date between 26-30 would probably work best. I'll be staying in Brooklyn (near DeKalb Ave) though venturing outside the borough is fine too if most people prefer that. Shall we have the last meetup of 2014? [more inside]
It’s time for my long-threatened shuffleboard meetup. [more inside]
Because of life and stuff,* there has not been an October meetup. Our November meetup will be Saturday the 15th. We'll start at 2pm. Bring your games, snacks and/or drinks. [more inside]

Hello, MetaFilter! I'll be popping by Brooklyn from the 6th to the 11th of this month, and I wonder if anyone would care for a quick lunch meet-up (let's say on Sunday the 7th) with me, Mrs quidnunc and the quidnunc baby (him name: quark). Somewhere nice in Williamsburg or thereabouts may be easiest, and a pub is always an option if drunch is better than lunch. Or an afternoon cocktail or tea party, or whatever. Or feel free to tell me where to go, either literally or figuratively. [more inside]
Our September meetup will be Saturday the 20th. We'll start at 2pm. Bring your games, snacks and/or drinks. [more inside]
