Hello FOODIES and welcome to the planning thread for our July meetup! (Sorry, I know that title pun is terrible.) Everyone seemed pretty interested in dim sum when we met up earlier this month, and my research suggests that Gourmet Inspirations in Silver Spring, MD (near the Wheaton Red Line stop) is the area's sleeper hit, both better-reviewed and apparently less-crowded than its competitors. For anyone who doesn't know what dim sum is, it's Hong Kong-style brunch tapas and it is delicious! Usually lots of dumplings and pastries are involved. Feng Mao Lamb Kebab looks like the type of place that would really be best experienced in a large group. Never been there, but best as I can tell it's a place where you order dim sum to be delivered to the table to eat, while you roast lamb (and other) kebabs over little charcoal troughs. Have we not had an NYC dim sum meetup since February 2012?! This shall not stand. Chinatown's The Golden Unicorn has been conducive to good meetups before, but, would people like to try Pacificana in Brooklyn's Chinatown for a change? I went there once with family and thought the dim sum was more varied than Golden Unicorn's, but the wait time for a table can be long. -- EDIT - Manhattan wins this round, for Saturday 11/9 at 11am.

Chinese New Year is Sunday February 10, and that seems like a fine week to grab some dim sum. SuperStar is good but is also a cool 2+ hours EACH WAY on public transportation from Boulder. Newport in Broomfield is OK, and has the bonus of being in the parking lot of Pacific Ocean Market ... so a meetup outing can multitask as a grocery shopping expedition! Dates and dim sum suggestions solicited ... please be mindful of the carless among us! (I know all the recent Front Range meetups have been in Denver, but Boulder has no dim sum to speak of.)
