The time for happy birthday dim sum is here - this year at Bamboo Garden, in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Dim sum time is here again - this year, ferret branca and I want to meet up at Buddha Bodai on Mulberry Street (yelp page), how about you? [more inside]
Update 2: Moved to 27th since eclipse weekend seemed like quite a conflict. If that's even worse I can move dates again! Let's eat dim sum. Hope to see you for some good eats. 11:30 at Bamboo Garden in Brooklyn's Sunset Park, a short walk from the N train.
January is here, so, ferret branca and I want to have dim sum with mefites again, at delicious Pacificana in Brooklyn. The more the merrier (and the smaller the final tab, usually), who's in? (previously) (moved to February so as not to coincide with Chinese New Year's Day) [more inside]
Hello FOODIES and welcome to the planning thread for our July meetup! (Sorry, I know that title pun is terrible.) Everyone seemed pretty interested in dim sum when we met up earlier this month, and my research suggests that Gourmet Inspirations in Silver Spring, MD (near the Wheaton Red Line stop) is the area's sleeper hit, both better-reviewed and apparently less-crowded than its competitors. For anyone who doesn't know what dim sum is, it's Hong Kong-style brunch tapas and it is delicious! Usually lots of dumplings and pastries are involved. Update: Date/time confirmed, hope to see you there! [more inside]
It's the time of year again for some happy birthday dim sum for me and ferret branca at Pacificana in Brooklyn, who's in? (previously) - UPDATE, rescheduled to Sunday the 31st due to possible snowstorm.
Feng Mao Lamb Kebab looks like the type of place that would really be best experienced in a large group. Never been there, but best as I can tell it's a place where you order dim sum to be delivered to the table to eat, while you roast lamb (and other) kebabs over little charcoal troughs. Anyone interested or am I going to have to do this alone? [more inside]
Dim sum was awesome last time, does anyone want to meet up for it again? Maybe we could try a Saturday? Or get there around 10am since the line is CRAZY. [more inside]
It's been a while since we had a food oriented meet up. I think the last one was when we went to Podnah's for BBQ. Is anyone up for dim sum some night next month? Dim sum is usually eaten in a large group so why not! [more inside]
As discussed last night, we are going to show joan cusack the second what proper Dim Sum is like before she leaves for Arkansas. Rol San on Spadina at noon on Sunday, Feb 23rd. Join us! [more inside]
oh yeah! and I discussed having a dim sum meetup at Pacificana for our collective birthday. **see update below** (still same time and place. Please confirm attendance.) [more inside]
Have we not had an NYC dim sum meetup since February 2012?! This shall not stand. Chinatown's The Golden Unicorn has been conducive to good meetups before, but, would people like to try Pacificana in Brooklyn's Chinatown for a change? I went there once with family and thought the dim sum was more varied than Golden Unicorn's, but the wait time for a table can be long. -- EDIT - Manhattan wins this round, for Saturday 11/9 at 11am.
We will continue our dim sum journey at Hei La Moon, on June 9, so as to make a proper scientific comparison. Yay, dumplings!!
Hey Boston area Mefites - let's eat some dumplings! [more inside]
Chinese New Year is Sunday February 10, and that seems like a fine week to grab some dim sum. SuperStar is good but is also a cool 2+ hours EACH WAY on public transportation from Boulder. Newport in Broomfield is OK, and has the bonus of being in the parking lot of Pacific Ocean Market ... so a meetup outing can multitask as a grocery shopping expedition! Dates and dim sum suggestions solicited ... please be mindful of the carless among us! (I know all the recent Front Range meetups have been in Denver, but Boulder has no dim sum to speak of.) Thanks, hope to break bao with you soon!
