Happy dim sum to you (and me)

oh yeah! and I discussed having a dim sum meetup at Pacificana for our collective birthday.
**see update below** (still same time and place. Please confirm attendance.)
We'd like to have the meetup on 1/25, a Saturday. I'm thinking meet at 11 AM since it's bound to get crowded, but I'm open to suggestions since I've never been to Pacificana before.
Closer to 1/25 I will come back to the thread to confirm who's coming, so I can get an idea of what size table we'll need (since I'm organizing, and chronically early to everything, this will be useful info for me to have).
UPDATE: Please decide if you are coming and RSVP accordingly by tomorrow night (Friday) at 9, so I can know what size table we will need Saturday. See you at Pacificana!

mlle valentine, I think we need to stick with the 11am target - there's no telling how long we will be stuck waiting in the lobby to be seated. As long as we can muster up a big enough group to get our own table, there shouldn't be a problem with a few people arriving late.

I would get there at 11:30. Totally get the rationale for keeping the time the same, but can you just post in the thread when you get seated? If it's right away I might not bother to come out, unless you think you'll linger over your dim sum.

I doubt we will get seated right away (or that everyone will be on time...but maybe my 28th birthday gift from MeFi will be the upending of my expectations). And I, for one, anticipate lingering over my dim sum luxuriously. I will definitely update the thread!

I may be able to make it! just realized I'm in the city this weekend.
HOWEVER, (and there is always a however), is there someone who speaks chinese? I am horrifically terribly allergic to shellfish and seafood, and dimsum can be a bit of a minefield...

I am definitely coming and most likely dragging along another friend.
Also: I am Chinese, albeit very Americanized. If they speak Cantonese then I think I'll be able to help with translating. If they're anything like the dim sum places in Chinatown then I should be able to recognize most of the dishes anyway.
