West Seattle Picnic
I'd like to have a picnic at Roxhill Park and hang out while kids play on the (exciting, new) playground. (There's also a skatepark, a large field, and a marsh walk.) Who wants to come hang out on a non-pouring-rain Saturday afternoon? (There's only a 10% chance of rain next Saturday, at least right now, so maybe then?)
Update: let's meet at noon on Saturday, 3 May. I'll still be there if there's light rain.

Well, actually, it's a couple of nights away, but still.... Anyway, a trip to Western Canada has suddenly developed a Friday-evening-shaped gap, so any mefites care for a meetup in Edmonton? I am staying just off Whyte Ave and will be carless, so somewhere in Old Strathcona would suit me well. Sorry for the short notice, but I figured it was worth a shot. Friday the 25th is when I am tossing it out for. Does The Pourhouse suit people?
Cape Town, May Day weekend
I'll be in Cape Town May Day weekend -- May 1-3 -- and just thought I'd toss out a possible meetup. There doesn't seem to be a ton of South Africa activity on IRL as a rule and I'm not even sure if there are any MeFites in Cape Town, but if anyone is out there and wants to get together for a beer, I'd love to do it. My schedule those three evenings will be pretty wide open.

King Kong Free at the UPCA
This month's entry in the "Sunday Movies at the Palace with Lin-Manuel Miranda" is the original 1933 King Kong. Doors open at 4pm, pre-show entertainment by the Palace Youth Drum Ensemble at 4:30, Lin-Manuel's pre-show Q&A with John Landis at 5pm, then the movie itself at 5:30. No charge at the door, but this is part of the UPCA's push to raise enough money for a new movie screen, so they will no doubt be pushing for donations throughout the pre-show.
There Ought to be a meetup on June 1st.

I'll be in Vienna April 6-19 (with a quick side trip to Graz around the 16th-18th). Anyone interested in getting together for coffee/drinks/general fun? I moved to London last year but I have not managed to meet up with any London mefites yet, I feel like it would be fun to go to a pub and meet you guys. The Penderel's Oak is a pub(wetherspoons) in the centre that I know is nice and big - would anyone like to have a london mefi meetup there next month?

Let's go to China in the Paris of the Piedmont
I've been memailing mediareport about it, and we both agree that we need to have another meetup in March. I was thinking Gourmet Kingdom would be a great option because it's quiet during the week (meaning not quiet on Fri/Sat), it has a challenging/intimidating/exciting/fun Szechuan menu (attn: vegetarians: the braised eggplant is amazing!), and it's in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro part of the triangle, thus satisfying the "our turn" part of the rotation. There's ample parking, and plenty of nearby watering holes for afterwards should we want to maintain conversational momentum like last time in Raleigh.
Would any Thursdays in March be bad for anyone? What Thursdays work best for you in March? What Thursdays work worst for you in March? Why wouldn't you want to meet up on a Thursday? What is it about those damned Thursdays? Do you know anybody named Thursday? Are they coming? Would they be embarrassed?
