This is a Hoosier Meetup Stub entry- feel free to add/suggest locations. We've settled on June 1st, now lets find a place to park! Fishers? Broadripple? Greenwood? Downtown?

Ah, the eternal question...Where to meet?
Being a Muncie resident, Fishers and Broad Ripple are closest for me. Downtown is probably the most equidistant location for most Hoosier MeFites.

Anyone game for Noblesville? Barley Island is a cozy place, with pretty good craft brews and servicable grub.

Then again, if beer is important, I would suggest a Muncie meetup at Heorot. But, that would mean having to drive to Muncie.

I would prefer southside but I would say that since I'm in Greenwood. Having said that I'm fine with meeting wherever.

Thorzdad! I just had to jump in to say that I grew up in Noblesville and attended Ball State! If I'm in town I'd love to join you all.

I'm in, subject to schedule restrictions of course. I'm in the Irvington area so almost anywhere is fine with me.

I live near Greenwood and work in zionsville. I'm fine with meeting wherever. I do have one request: can we please do this on a Sunday? That's the only day of the week that I'm ever available.

"Where" is not too much of an issue for me — I'm willing to travel some distance. It's "when" that tends to limit me, although I do like db&b's Sunday suggestion as I tend to have most Sundays open, at least for the next few months.

I vote for downtown, but would drive wherever. Sunday works for me too.

The SO and I should be good when/wherever in general. Downtown might be the easiest for most in the metro area.

Let's just pick a Sunday (just not Memorial Day weekend thanks to a certain event in Speedway) and go with it.

Given that certain event in Speedway, I'd say we should skip May altogether. Maybe early June?

It might also be a hoot to meet up again for a game of something at GenCon. I have my registration already but it isn't required just to grab a table.

Gencon isn't till August and nothing that requires admission, pls. Gas to drive to Indy and back is already gonna cost me enough.

Well, if we're avoiding Speedway anyways, Nobletucky or Fishers would probably be OK even into the middle of May.

Jun 1st? Bueller?

I can do June 1.

I think that would work for me, too.

June 1st works for me too.

Alright, now we need a venue. I'm leaning towards Fishers this time as the last meetups have been in Greenwood and Downtown.

Anyone else? Suggestions for a place?
posted by pjern at 10:46 AM on April 24, 2014

I live up that way, so I suppose I should offer a suggestion or two. The Nickel Plate Bar & Grill for, uh, bar & grill type fare, and it's in a nice older brick building. If not that, maybe Red Habanero for Mexican. I wouldn't be averse to Thorzdad's suggestion of Barley Island, either, although that's farther north. If those don't suit people, I can probably offer other suggestions depending on what type of thing everyone wants.
posted by DevilsAdvocate at 8:51 PM on April 24, 2014

Anything on the north/northeast side is great for me, so Fishers definitely works.
Nickel Plate is ok, though every time I've been there it was crowded as hell, hard to get a table and really noisy. YMMV, of course.

If I had any sort of request, it would be for a place with a reasonable beer selection. But, it's not a deal-breaker by any means.

Thorzdad: That's kind of been my experience there, as well. I'd like to be able to hear my fellow MeFites.

I'm going to check in with my daughter this weekend; she lives in that area and may have a suggestion.

I live in Bloomington - and would be interested in possibly driving an hour or so for a meetup.

Well, if you want beer and good food, you could do Rockstone Pizza Pub. However, it can be a bit noisy in there at times, especially if we have a large group.

We do live right in that area, so I'll do more pondering on places.

Oh, my wife also suggested doing Books & Brews as well. They're a combination of a microbrewery and used book store. It's a relatively small place, but it could certainly work. The only issue I see is that there's a musician playing from 1pm to 3pm.

[Slight disclaimer: I did kickstart them.]

I'm a dumbass. June 1st is my anniversary. Carry On.

So...Did anything get settled on this? If pjern can't make June 1st, I propose we find an alternate date. He started this, afterall.
