All jazz hands on deck
...actually, please refrain from the jazz hands BUT...
POSTunderground is an erstwhile Jazz residency held in the basement of the Brookline VFW Post 11 on 386 Washington Street. This month, they're presenting four sets of local jazz each Friday Night—7:30PM, 8:30PM, 9:30PM, 10:30PM. There's no cover—and there is a simple bar with VFW prices (read: cheap drinks). I'm gonna go on Friday March 24, sometime around 8PM. Anyone with me?
Nashua, NH meetup!

Wednesday Night at the MFA (free!)
When MeFites view art, is it a MeFart?
Well! Let me recalibrate the taste-level of this IRL post by cordially inviting you all to meet up at the Museum of Fine Arts on Wednesday evening, October 16, at 7PM (free admission, donations accepted). Let's gather at the Taste Café in the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art, Level 1, at 7PM, wait about 10-15 minutes for people to show up, and then meander from there. The MFA's open until 10PM, but don't feel like you have to wander around for three hours. [more inside]

A Lovely Hike in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
To all my Northern New England MeFites out there -- let's get together for a hike in the Whites before the cold! We've picked a moderate trail with a great view pay-off. If there's interest, we could also hit up a coffee shop, pub, microbrewery, etc. after the hike. [more inside]

Blue Shirt Board Games
As we do every other weekend, let's meet at the Blue Shirt Cafe in Davis Square at 2:00 to play board games. This time, let's meet on Saturday, May 13th, rather than Sunday the 14th, since that Sunday is Mother's Day. As always, bring any games you'd like and make requests in the thread. [more inside]
Blue Shirt Board Games
The weather has improved. Daylight Savings has pushed sunset to a later, less depressing hour. It's the perfect time to sit indoors and squint at each other. Let's play board games at the Blue Shirt Cafe at 2:00 on Sunday, April 30th. Bring any games you like. If you'd like to play a game you don't own, request it here. [more inside]

The last time we met to play board games went well. Let's ring in the new year with a session at the Blue Shirt Cafe on Sunday, January 22nd, from 2:00 to whenever we want to leave. People can bring their own games of whatever genre and difficulty they like. If people would prefer to meet at a different time or date, I'm sure we can work something out. [more inside]
Ukulele flash mob, 20 January
Since MeFi has a lot of ukulele players, I'd like to propose a flash mob for 20 January to protest the inauguration of the Ratfuck Elect. Location and song TBA. Who's with me?
Boston October 13th
Has anyone ever proposed a meet up and then not shown up?
I'd love to grab dinner and beer with some Boston MeFites while I'm in town working but I may have to be a jerk and cancel at the last minute. [more inside]
Board games at the Blue Shirt
It's been a while since we had a board game meetup in this area, so let's see whether there's interest in a new one. One of us could host it, or we could meet at a restaurant such as the Blue Shirt Cafe on Davis Square or a conveniently large Panera Bread like the one near Fenway Park. Based on past meetups, Knight Moves seems to have been a bust. A weekend, which would allow for the most play time, would probably be best. When and where sounds best to you all? EDIT:Let's meet at the Blue Shirt Cafe on Davis Square at 2:00 on Sunday, October 30th! Feel free to bring any game or games you'd like to play.
Metapoké Go
In the Pokémon Go thread, Room 641-A commented that it would be a good meetup activity. Shall we prove her right? [more inside]
Boda Borg, anyone?
I'll be in Boston this weekend, visiting with my boyfriend, and we'd like to do Boda Borg, but with just the two of us, we're one short of the minimum team number (3-5 people per team). Is anyone interested and available? We could do Sunday or Monday, whichever works better. *Edit: Confirmed for Monday, May 31 at 1:30* [more inside]
Cards at the Cambridge Public Library
The last card-game meetup went well, so let's have another one. Let's meet at the library next Sunday, May 1st, at 1:00. That time and venue are flexible: If people would prefer a different time or place, I'll change it.
Card games at the Cambridge Library
Does anyone in the Boston area want to meet up and play cards? I'm open to any games less complicated than Bridge and more interesting than War. I don't know any great venues for card-playing off the top of head, but I'm sure we can think of something. Even if you don't know any games yourself, you're welcome to come: For my part, I'll bring one of those big books of card games. EDIT: Let's meet at the Cambridge Public Library at 1:00 this Sunday, April 17th! If not enough people can make that time, date, or place, then all of those things are flexible.
Board games in Boston
Anyone feel like getting together to play board games somewhere in the Boston area? I'm open to any venue people can think of, as long as it's fairly convenient for everyone. EDIT: We'll play board games at cogitron's house at 7:00 PM on Saturday the 26th. Feel free to bring whatever games you'd like. If you'd like to come, just MeMail cogitron for the address. The address listed here is not the actual address for the meetup.
MIT Mystery Hunt Recovery Brunch
Five years ago we had a celebratory/commiseration brunch to celebrate the end of the MIT Mystery Hunt on MLK Monday. I had fun meeting a bunch of MeFites, and I'd like to do it again now that I'm coming back on-site! Who's available, who are you representing, what are the good eateries for a brunch/lunch around MIT, and what do you have in the Coin Pool? (I claim 40 hours) [more inside]
From Beyond - Boston Area MegaGame
Based on the response to the recent MegaGames post on the Model -U.N.-Meets-Alien-Invasion game "Watch the Skies," I would be remiss if I did not point out that a similar MegaGame, "From Beyond" is playing in Cambridge, MA next week run by MegaGames United.

Rowdy Roddy Tater
The Taters are coming to kick ass at trivia and chew bubblegum, and we still have plenty of bubblegum, but that's OK because we're perfectly capable of doing two things at once. Geeks Who Drink trivia, Wednesday at Joe Sent Me.
Board games at Knight Moves
Would anyone like to meet at Knight Moves in Brookline to play board games? It bills itself as New England's only board game cafe and has a wide selection of games to play. I'm fairly sure it allows customers to bring their own games as well. There's a cover charge of $10 Thursday through Sunday and $5 Monday through Wednesday. What times and dates would work for people? UPDATE: Come to Knight Moves near Coolidge Corner on August 29th at 6:00 PM to play some board games! [more inside]

You've got another Thing coming!
When Taters last in the dooryard bloomed
True to their tuber roots (see what I did there?) spring is the time when all true Taters head inside to a dark room to answer trivia questions.
That last part may not be true of potatoes.
That last part may not be true of potatoes.
Looking for the next big Thing?
It's Wednesday night at Joe Sent Me, where the Taters all gather for Geeks Who Drink trivia--no foolin'!

Dune at the Brattle
The Brattle Theater in Cambridge is playing a series of David Lynch movies from Monday, February 23rd to Thursday, March 5th. Anyone want to go see one of them? I'm interested in Dune and Blue Velvet, since those are playing on the weekend, but would be up for pretty much anything in the series. EDIT: We're going to see Dune on Friday the 27th. I'd rather go at 7:00, but if outvoted, 9:30 is also fine.
A Møøse once bit my sister at Triviå. No realli!
We apologize for the fault in this week's trivia meetup post title. Those responsible have been sacked. Please meet at Joe Sent Me at 7:30 PM for Geeks Who Drink. [more inside]

Pull up a chair!!!
An in-person meetup to play Blizzard's online card game, Hearthstone. We can play against each other, shoulder-surf each other's Arenas, etc. Location and time TBD. Beer would be nice, wifi required. (EDIT: Hearthstone runs on Mac and PC, and iPad 2 or later.) [more inside]
Really casual bike ride (or walk) + lunch
How about a pretty short, slow, sweet little bike ride on the Minuteman trail (or, a walk option instead)? And some lunch? OK, last chance, you 'Maybes!' If no one but cocoagirl and me are there at 10:30, and no one has switched to 'Attending,' then she and I may head elsewhere instead of to Spy Pond. But if anyone does switch to 'Attending,' then we'll see you at Spy Pond as planned. So, if you'll be there, switch over your response! [more inside]
DiscourseMarker went out of town and all I got was this trivia Thing
Although the Queen of Taters will be attending an academic conference in the Great Northwest, she has given us permission to hold a Geeks Who Drink trivia meetup in her absence, this Wednesday at Joe Sent Me.
