Sun February 19 at 2:00 PM, Blue Shirt Café
424 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA, USA (Map & Directions)
Let's meet to play board games at the Blue Shirt Cafe on Davis Square at 2:00 on Sunday, February 5th Sunday, February 12th Sunday, February 19th!The last meetup went really well and the venue is excellent. That said, this is flexible, so if people EDIT: or Nature Herself would strongly prefer a different time, date, or venue, I'm willing to change it.
As before, feel free to bring your own board games of whatever theme and difficulty you like. I plan to bring El Grande, Cosmic Encounter, Chinatown, and Modern Art. If you have any particular requests, don't hesitate to make them in the thread.

FYI, that's Superbowl Sunday. The intersection of board game-playing MeFites and those who need the afternoon free to make seven-layer dip, buffalo wings, and caramel corn may be Population: Me, in which case, you should certainly go ahead as planned and I'll come to the next one instead. But I thought I'd mention it just in case it's a conflict for enough others that you'd want a different date.

lol I totally forgot about the Super Bowl. I'll go ahead and postpone it a week to February 12th. If people really want to play on Super Bowl Sunday, I'll change it back.

I was excited about the idea of the 5th instead of the 12th, because I'll be able to do this on the 5th and not the 12th.

Maybe next month!

Actually, I can't make it on the 12th either -- sorry! I hope that changing the date wasn't a wrong move that I led you to make. I'm still looking forward to coming to another in the series!

Hell yeah! I'm glad there's interest. Does anyone have any preferences with respect to games to bring?

Just a note, there is a Knight Moves un Teele built for exactly this.

I'm aware of it. I haven't enjoyed the Brookline Knight Moves. It's crowded and noisy, the games aren't well maintained, and you have to pay an entry fee for the privilege of hiding your cards from the decorative mirrors on the wall behind you.

By contrast, the Blue Shirt Cafe is quiet and spacious, and it serves good food without demanding an entry fee at the door. Unless the Teele Knight Moves is a significant improvement on the Brookline original, I'd prefer to stick with the Blue Shirt Cafe.

It looks like the weather will be bad tomorrow. Do people want to postpone this again? I'm happy to do so, but I'll have to postpone it two weeks because I'm visiting my grandparents next weekend.

Looks like it's coming down pretty hard. I could still make it, but then I only live about half a mile away.

I may be able to postpone it to next Sunday, weather and my family's plans permitting. I have to come in from the suburbs, so I can't make it today.

Okay, the "Attending" list has plummeted to 4, so I'll go ahead and postpone this to Sunday next week. Very sorry to Potomac Avenue and his +1, who must have needed to arrange a babysitter for today.

I live very slightly closer than firechicago to Davis and can tell you my medium sized, reasonably travel side street hasn't even been plowed yet, so cancelling seems like a wise decision. There are people walking out and about, but it doesn't look pleasant.

Next Saturday should be fine, so I'll leave us down as attending. We'd been about to bring Terra Mystica and Scythe, but would anyone prefer us to bring something different?

I can make it next Sunday--would be happy to play games w/you all. I have Codenames and Camel Up, if there are any fans...

Oh good, sorry you had to postpone, but glad that now I can come.

So there's no confusion, this will be next Sunday, barring bad weather.

All right. I'm in the back of the dining room. Looks like a fair number of people are getting lunch here right now.

Just getting ready to leave now. Thanks to everyone who came. I had a great time. That Camel Cup game is pretty ingenious. Thanks for bringing it, Sublimity.

Thanks for organizing! Great fun all around--I really enjoyed meeting you all. Remind me of the name of the second game we played? I might pick it up too...

That game is called Condottiere. The board might not go flat, but in my experience, neither does the game.

I had fun too -- thanks! Nice to meet/see you all, and thanks for the fun games!
