Really casual bike ride (or walk) + lunch

Alewife Station Access Road, Cambridge, MA, USA (Map & Directions)
How about a pretty short, slow, sweet little bike ride on the Minuteman trail (or, a walk option instead)? And some lunch? OK, last chance, you 'Maybes!' If no one but cocoagirl and me are there at 10:30, and no one has switched to 'Attending,' then she and I may head elsewhere instead of to Spy Pond. But if anyone does switch to 'Attending,' then we'll see you at Spy Pond as planned. So, if you'll be there, switch over your response!
Bikers:
-Meet at the passenger pickup area of the Alewife Station garage at 10:30.
-Bike out 3.8 miles on the Minuteman trail (paved, flat) to the Trader Joe's that's right on the trail. Go in together on the purchase of some sandwich fixin's.
-Take said fixin's most of the way back, stopping at Spy Pond by noon-ish for a picnic with the walkers.
Walkers:
-Switch your 'Maybe' to 'Attending' by 10AM so the bikers know not to skip out on Spy Pond!
-Meet at the passenger pickup area of the Alewife Station garage at 11:15. (Bring some snacks or drinks or similar.)
-Amble out to Spy Pond on the Minuteman Trail to meet the bikers by noon-ish for a picnic.
(Alternatively, you could meet when the bikers do, and then just walk around more or hang out more or whatever.)

I would totally be up for this, but:
a) It's Father's day
b) I'm doing another bike ride that morning
c) My son has a drum recital
d) Said son also has a little league game.
Other than those minor things, I'd go. I am interested in this sort of thing for future meetups, however.

Oh shoot - didn't realize it was Father's Day. Pushing it to the following Sunday, since I'm guessing that might be a tough day to make for several folks besides bondcliff as well.

I never learned how to bike! But we live not too far away, and if there was any interest in doing some pokey walking around I'd be up for that.

Boo, I have plans to be downtown at 1:30p or I'd totally be up for this. My schedule is really insane, like months-out insane, so please keep planning things and eventually I'll show up.

Metroid Baby - that's a good idea. If anyone wants to walk along the trail instead, it's about a 20-30 min walk from Alewife to Spy Pond, and the bikers and walkers (and drivers, for that matter) could meet there for the picnic as long as we know ahead how many people we'll be, and leave the timing a little flexible.

I learned how to bike but am generally too scared to. Interested in walking / eating, though.

I could be up for this. I have a large carrying capacity on my bike, plus spare bikes if anyone is interested in riding but doesn't have one available.

Start time for walkers -- I think the biking contingent will take about an hour of slow biking plus the time in Trader Joe's, so meeting at 10:30, we should arrive at Spy Pond by noon-ish. What about the walkers? Go with 10:30 and hang out longer at the pond and/or walk around some more? Or a separate, later meeting time? Google says 21 minutes, so an 11:15 start would allow for ambling.
Food -- Since we'll have picnickers who don't get to Trader Joe's, we could say that the bikers will pick up sandwich fixings there, and that walkers will bring accompaniments like chips, cookies, drinks, or whatever. Does that sound good? I'll check that morning for how many 'Attending' to plan for, so if you're coming but not at 10:30, make sure to switch your 'Maybe' over.

I am in for riding or walking, food, ice cream, all of the above. Actually, I've been making ice cream and have a fair amount of zabaglione I could bring if only I could keep it cold enough. I'm not clear on the start time for riders: 10:30am? I suppose I'd also be up for riding to the meeting point and walking from there if most people are walking.

Yup, riders still start at 10:30. With all those 'Maybes,' I'm holding out hope that we'll have at least a few riding.
Wow, homemade ice cream/zabaglione... I don't know how you'd manage it, but if you could, that would be awesome!

ignignokt -- yup, you've got it *IF* anyone (like you!) switches from 'Maybe' to "Attending' by tomorrow AM. If not, and cocoagirl and I are the only bikers, then the two of us may go on the assumption that no one's going to be at Spy Pond, and head elsewhere instead.
