Sat January 21 at 10:50 AM, 300th Anniversary Monument, Boston Common
99 Spruce St, Boston, MA, USA (Map & Directions)
Any interest in meeting up and marching together at Boston Women's March for America this Saturday? From their site: "Can I attend... if I am not a woman? Yes, everyone who believes that women’s rights are human rights is invited!"
Let's meet at 10:50 AM. The event includes a gathering (with speakers) on Boston Common from ~11-12:30, then a ~1.5 hour march ending back at the Common, where community building continues until ~3pm.

More from their site: "...we will... march in solidarity with communities most affected by the hate, intolerance and acts of violence being perpetrated throughout the nation—among many are communities of women, immigrants, people of color, people who identify as LGBTQIA and people with disabilities. We stand for religious freedom, human rights, climate justice, racial justice, economic justice and reproductive justice..."

Let's meet at the 300th Anniversary Monument. It's a gateway to the Common along Beacon St., at the corner of Spruce St. I'll be on the side facing the Common. That's right on the edge of the main gathering area for the event.

I have a neon green sign that will have a tiny MetaFilter logo on it.

Per this thread, I'll likely have my cellular data turned off, and I've installed FireChat and set up a private channel for us -- memail me for it if you're interested.

Is it OK that I bring a friend? Where were you thinking of as a meeting point?

I'll be there, drumming with various folks. If I can meet up with you all at some point, that would be great too!

darsh -- of course, everyone's welcome!

Would love suggestions for how to meet up. I might be able to head over that way tomorrow and see if a specific landmark looks like it would make a good option even in a crowd.

I'll likely be attending, and I certainly wouldn't mind meeting up with some mefites on the way.

Hey, I'll be there. Interested in meeting some other MeFi types!

We should put little "MeFi"s on our posters so we can totally high five if we see other MeFites.

There's a Starbucks on the corner of Beacon & Charles St if anyone wants to meet up before hand (which I would be down for).

I was in the area today, and looked around for where to meet. Two choices, one much closer to the thick of things than the other -- opinions?
1. The 300th Anniversary Monument. It's a gateway to the Common along Beacon St., at the corner of Spruce St. We could meet there, on the side facing the Common. That's right on the edge of the main gathering area for the event.
2. The fountain by the Park St. T stop. That's probably a 5 minute walk away on a normal day, so maybe 15 with crowds?

I'm thinking of going, but still figuring out what I want out of it. I've already contacted a friend about meeting up with her group, but I'm going to sign on as 'maybe' here so I can at least see what you guys are up to.

I'll be there, but not sure about meeting up beforehand. I have a group of friends that I'm already trying to coordinate. I *will* have a Metafilter logo on my sign though. Signing up as a Maybe to stay up on what's happening here.

Ok, unless someone chimes in with other thoughts, I'm calling it for this meeting spot, at 10:50 AM:

I'd like to come to this! I'll try to get there by public transportation so parking won't be an issue.

I'll be there! I'll keep an eye out for MeFites.

I'm making my sign tomorrow. I read the AskMe thread on slogans and will go with Stronger Together unless anyone has another suggestion. See you all at the monument Saturday at 10:50! Oh, and I'll bring black permanent markers.

smirkette -- I only just noticed your suggestion about meeting up ahead of time -- sorry! I'm guessing that the Starbucks at that corner will be overrun, but if folks want to meet beforehand a little further away and/or hang out somewhere afterwards, I'm up for that, too.

maryr, happy to join forces if your friend and her group want to meet up, too.

Hope to see you there!

After the march, the Cambridge Historical Commission and other local archives are looking to collect unique/handmade signs and banners, small swag and memorabilia (pins, buttons, t-shirts, hats, etc.), and any official records or scripts from the organizers of the march, with drop-off sites in Cambridge and at Simmons.

I THOUGHT I left tons of extra time for transit, but at this rate, 10:50 is a fading dream... I'll check here again when I'm on the Common.

10:50 is officially dead to me. Having watched a couple of full trains come and go, there's no hope at all of getting on a T from Porter Square. I'm going to head back to Alewife and hope that maybe I can get on at the beginning of the line.

So far that worked- heading the right way again now... slowly I expect!

Made it to Park St. Cell is flaky...

I'm sorry I missed everyone. I just didn't plan this out well and couldn't get close to Alewife to park; Route 2 was backed up and I saw the garage was full so I just headed home. I hope you enjoyed the day. The fight is just beginning, is what I'm telling myself. There will be opportunities for resistance every day. But I kind of feel like shit for missing this.

Did anyone end up meeting up? I'm sorry the plan I made myself didn't work for me! I hope everyone had a good experience there anyway. My favorite moment: a couple of small girls realizing they could get the entire crowd chanting, "This is what democracy looks like!"

I was at the monument around the stated time, but I didn't see any MeFi signs, so I just moved on and found a better spot to stand in.

maryr, metroidbaby and I were there, but we left later and got to the Common by about noon. Finished marching at 4. It was exhausting but totally worth it.
