Meet me in SF Aug 30-Sept 1
As above, my vacation dates in San Francisco are confirmed, but I’d love it if you’ll share your fav local-best-kept-secret-fun-things/places (as an former Londoner/multi-East coaster, it’s been a decade since I was last in SF!) and as a bonus, also your company to join ne at restaurants with *outdoor seating* in the Bay area (breakfast/brunch, lunch, or dinner)! I like solo travel, but find meals awkward on my own. I’ll be staying in the Mission, but am happy to take the BART etc. I don’t drive. Thanks! (I’m using the address of a sushi venue to post this.)

Memorial gathering for rtha's birthday
This is a casual gathering at Southpaw to mark what would have been rtha's 53rd birthday. Come have some food or a drink and hang out and tell stories about rtha or just hang out. FOGcon, a literary sf convention, is happening on March 6-8 in Walnut Creek. This year's theme is The Traveller. "From The Odyssey to Dr. Who, Margery Kempe to Alyx, the Traveler is an iconic figure. This trope evokes a whole class of stories in both SF and fantasy in a compact and emotionally suggestive form....We will explore such topics as modes of travel, evolving attitudes toward the idea of an alien realm, the range of metaphors travel stands for, changing expectations about the experience of earthly or space travel, and how to be an extreme wilderness hiker - or an extreme hitchhiker. Yoni Ki Baat - 10th Anniversary
Yoni Ki Baat, inspired by The Vagina Monologues, presents true stories by and about South Asian women talking about sexuality, gender, and womanhood as it intersects with race and culture. To celebrate 10 years in the Bay Area, this year's production will present selected work from past shows, covering topics from queer desire to infertility, body hair to facial hair, sex on a plane to sex in public, and much more - including a diatribe against Fair and Lovely. There are 2 evening productions on March 22nd and 23rd and a self-identified-women's only matinee on March 23rd. Tix are $15: partial proceeds go towards supporting organisations that help women and girls. [more inside]
Suicide's Requiem at The Garage
Suicide's Requiem is a collaborative dance-theater performance created & performed by and about survivors of suicide and mental health issues - whether directly or through a loved one - soundtracked by Mozart's Requiem and personal interviews. Our aim is to educate people about suicide through personal perspectives, and encourage personal and societal healing around mental health.
