Dear locals, please join me for the next meetup at Oakland's New Parkway Theater for a showing of Airplane!, a classic comedy from 1980. Don't like movies? No worries! Buy a drink, get some food, and just hang out with fellow MeFites between 8 pm and 9:30, when the movie starts. [more inside]
I'm a fan of Galaxy Quest, which is showing at Oakland's New Parkway at 9:30 pm on Thursday, August 13. Would anyone like to join me at 8:30 pm for a drink before the showing? The New Parkway has sofas, booze, food, and a great community vibe. It's within walking distance of the 19th Street Bart station in Oakland and a variety of buses so you don't need a car to get there--and you get a discount if you ride your bike. ("Patrons entering the theater carrying a bike helmet will receive a $1 discount.")
Let's meet for drinks at Virgil's Sea Room on Saturday 15th August. Meet at 2pm but we will likely still be around in the evening. We might pop out for food - will keep the thread updated. [more inside]
Apologies but the rain has started and there's tons of doom and gloom on the news so I think I will sit this one out. Next time I'll give more advice notice, how about that? Stay dry and happy, folks!
I'm going to be in the Bay Area for a few days next week, and as a huge Tiki fan, I'm very much looking forward to checking out the new, well pedigreed Tiki Bar, Longitude. I'm thinking 6-ish onward on Friday the 7th. Anyone interested?
I'm visiting SF again 4th to 20th August and it would be cool to meet some MeFites. Drinks at Virgil's Sea Room at 3pm on 16th August (Saturday). Come later in the day if you want since I'm presuming we will be there a while. We may pop out for food at some point - I'll keep the thread updated.

Since I just came back, am curious who's still around in Oakland. What about an Oakland meetup in September or October? Maybe we could all meetup at First Friday and grab some food/watch the festivities?
Meetup at After Dark at the Exploratorium. You need to buy tickets. Meet outside the exploratorium at 6:15pm by the vertically orientated sign with the big hole. I'll also try and be near the entrance inside at 8pm if you're running late and want to find the group. There will likely be post-exploratorium drinking (venue TBD).
The comments on this link were all "go to a MeFi Meetup" and so I was all "let's have a MeFi Meetup." I've never been to one, but I am a moderately recent transplant and would love to meet you wonderful folks. So... drinking? Games? Both together? Something else entirely?
