Every Sunday in October, Old World Village in Huntington Beach, puts on the sport of kings: Dachshund Racing! The races run from 3 PM to 4 PM. I propose Metafilters from far and near meet up at around 1 PM for sausages and beer. We'll carefully discuss the merits of the fine wiener dog athletes and then cheer them on. I'm not exactly sure, but I think the entry fees total out to $2. [more inside]

In the Weird DC thread, troika mentioned that Churchkey + going to the incredibly bizarre yet oddly charming Monarch Novelties could be a great meetup combination, so I say: why not? We'll meet up at Monarch at noon, and then hang out at Churchkey until whenever. Feel free to drop in at any time in the afternoon.
After years of threats and/or promises, me and smasuch will be in SF from the 9th to the 15th of May, and we'd like to meet you fine folks over some local brews! [more inside]
Lutoslawski will be leaving us for more academic environs in early July, so I propose a send-off meetup Saturday June 14 with plenty of food and libations. [more inside]

I was thinking we should have a game day/evening here in Portland again. Any suggestions for days/times/locales? Just cards, like that one time that devolved into cards against humanity? Board games? Which also usually devolves into cards against humanity. How do we feel about just playing cards against humanity, or do we not want to do that at all? [more inside]
We won Pacific Standard's pub quiz a while ago and never redeemed our prize, a $200 party at the bar. Join us and drink free (within reason)!

It has been quite a while since our last adventure to Tired Hands in Ardmore. The candied bacon is still on the menu and the beers are still weird and wonderful (I loved recent brews: Professor Caterpillar and Dr. Grasshopper). The only thing missing is us (I actually had one of the bartenders ask about us). [more inside]
I'm going to be visiting family in the Portland area between November 27th and December 3rd, and I would love to gather sometime toward the end of my trip. A few weeks ago in MetaChat, Lutoslawski told me about a bitchin' sounding men's underwear emporium called UnderU4Men in downtown Southwest Portland. While we don't have to all buy men's underwear at the same time, it would be cool to time that visit with some mefi-jam-packed local beers and cocktail magic drinkies out on the town. I've not been to Portland in a few years, so please suggest some fabulous places for our extended temporal collision. Suggestion of potential activities beyond mere ingression is of course also welcomed. Looking forward to it! [more inside]
Hey all, I'm gonna be in DC for a work conference December 3-7, and I'd be interested in meeting a few of y'all. Maybe the afternoon or evening of Friday December 6? [more inside]

Con-goers and non-goers can meet and bask in the crumbling vistas of Providence like a pack of wonder-loving grandmothers at the Trinity Brewhouse. It's just after the end of the con, and people should enjoy some of the fine beers before heading to their ancestral homes.
