Three years after our last (very successful) whisky-centric meetup/potluck, we're doing another one at my house! Bring a bottle of something you either like, or haven't tried but are curious about; we take little tastes of each, we compare and contrast, we all go home a little happier, wiser, and tipsier. Obviously, good liquor can be pricy, so if you can't afford an expensive (or even mid-priced) bottle that doesn't mean you aren't welcome! Booze is appreciated, and bringing a bit of food is encouraged, but come one come all. RMH March DINNER: We continue to have a great time cooking dinner for people at the Hyde Park Ronald McDonald House (5444 South Drexel Avenue, Chicago, IL) so we're doing it again on 1/11/14 starting around 4:30 and finishing around 8:30 with dinner served at 6. It's like a potluck that we all make together at their kitchen, and also feed families of sick kids. [more inside]

After the LA meetup recently I have decided to have another go at organizing an OC/South LA meetup. And what's better for a meet up than cheese! I want to try Knafeh (A near eastern cheese pastry, deep fried with syrup and covered with pistachios) and Anaheim's Knafeh Cafe seems like a good place to give it a shot. I figure we could start off these for cheese and hit some nearby bar for drinks after. Let me know if metafilter is interested before I hit the place on my lonesome. Good lord, I seem to have up and moved cross-country to a place where I know only one person! Help me feel like this was a good decision by meeting up with me and showing me what awesome folks Maine Mefites are. Anything West End or Old Port works for me, I know a few places for drinks/dinner but would love to try someplace new. I'm going to toss out Jan 23-26 as open days just to get things started.
