Quansar season is flexible in Houston, isn't it?

During last night's quiz meetup it was noted that it's been a while since we've had a non-quiz-based meetup to simply socialize and catch up. We're willing to host again at our place, but recognize that holding it in Missouri City does place a bit of a travel imposition on some. So, lets start a discussion: when shall we meet, and if not in MoCity, where?

I'll be there wherever it is.

Anyone? Bueller? Shall I kill this proposal?

:(

hmm maybe people are just recuperating from the holidays? anyway, no reason we can't revisit the idea when there's more interest.

I missed the last one somehow but I am very much interested. I am close to Galveston but I'd go to Missouri City anyway. I'm very happy to see there's another proposal.

I'd be up for watching the AFC Championship on Sunday at an appropriate venue.

Oh hi, semester started last week. It'll be a few weeks before I pry free but don't let that stop you. There's got to be more Houston Mefites hiding under a very crowded rock.

Oh goodness. I hadn't even seen this until I wandered over to MeTa and found it in the sidebar. I'm up for anything. I like trivia, but I don't love the Maple Leaf and the schedule really seems to always conflict with my schedule anyway. But a non-trivia meetup sounds good to me. I'm trying to brainstorm some things that are different from what we've done in the past.

Here's an interesting list.

I'm kind of intrigued by the idea of going over to the Waugh St. Bridge with a picnic at dusk to see the bats. Or going to the Chocolate Bar is always entertaining. And of course, Rodeo Season is picking up soon.

Many options.

jph, I looked at the list. I'd do the bats, go to a Rockets game and I'd like to go to the rodeo. I haven't been since I was a kid! I'd also do a regular Houston event. I don't know how I missed the last meetup.

Just to clarify my original intent, I was trying to get us together in a way that encouraged social interaction. While I do thoroughly enjoy the quiz nights it doesn't lend itself well to much beyond "so, how was your week?" due to the noise and the fact you're focusing on the quiz.

So yeah, bats, picnics, hanging out in a back yard, etc. Once it gets warmer maybe a crawfish boil, that sort of thing.

And yeah, as some of you know I do Rodeo in a big way. While it is indeed a lot of fun and getting a group together to go would be great, that wasn't my prime motivation.

Of course, given the uptake, maybe my motivation is off?

I think let's try to organize a trip to see the bats when it is a little warmer!

I'm up for stuff as well. I also like trivia, but I would rather be in a place where conversation can flow without yelling - the Maple Leaf was rather loud the one time I did show up. Things that I would do with you guys: board games, taco trucks, BBQs, picnics, bocce, interesting restaurants (I'd love to try some Nigerian food, any leads?) and used book store scavenger hunts. Sports are really not my thing, sorry.

By chance I've been talking to Nigerians a lot lately. One woman has told me the Nigerian restaurants around are quite expensive. I will ask someone else for recommendations late next week. Or maybe someone here knows a good place?

I did not know that Nigerians had became such a big community in Houston. The Nigerians I've met are really interesting folks.

Brent I agree that a place with moderate background noise is best.

Finger Licking Buketaria keeps getting good reviews, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
