Austin meetup - February 9

Sun February 9 at 2:00 PM, Dog and Duck Pub
406 West 17th Street, Austin, TX, USA (Map & Directions)
It's been ages since we had an Austin meetup. Let's get together at a local pub or coffeehouse. I'll add date/time/location when we have a consensus. ETA: We have settled on February 9, 2-4 pm, at the Dog and Duck.

I can attest to having enjoyed a previous meetup at the Dog and Duck. I know of few locations in Austin, so I don't feel an authority on any other venue. I am open to showing up anywhere... as long as I can get a coffee or a club soda.

I'm up for a meet-up. Dog and Duck is good for me.

Dog and Duck is a good choice.

I'm ready for my first meetup!

Dog and Duck works for me.

Other suggestions: Black Star Co-op or the Black Sheep Lounge. The former is more north than D&D, the latter is south. I'm up for anything, just putting those out there if you want to try something different for this meetup.

Are weekends or week nights better for people?

Dog & Duck works for me. I'm always up for fish and chips.

Hello, I'd like to join the fun. Dog and Duck or any of mokin's suggestions sound good to me.

Dog and Duck is fine with me. Traditionally we've gone with Sunday afternoons; I can do January 26, February 2, or February 9. I'm open to changing that if other people are available on weeknights or Saturday.

I like Black Star, but it's very noisy. Hard to have a good conversation there. I'd vote for Dog & Duck or Flying Saucer.

My days off are Sunday and Monday... which makes for an odd weekend. Late afternoon hours, say after 18:00, should hopefully be convenient for most.

February 9th I'll be available. I'm traveling a ton the next couple of months, so my availability is kind of crap. It'd be fun to see everyone!

I'm interested. Sunday afternoon sounds ideal.

Getting downtown's a chore on weekends for me but it's like that anytime. Which Sunday are we thinking of?

DnD works for me. I sometimes work until 7:30pm on Sundays but I can ask off if I give enough time.

I think we're now looking at February 9, particularly since I owe r_n a beer from, oh, a year and a half ago. Normally we've done from about 2-4 pm but we can change if we need to (afternoon hours seem to be when the pub is empty). A quick glance at the Dog and Duck website shows no conflicts.

I'll finalize the meetup for February 9, 2-4 pm, Thursday morning if we've got a consensus/no major objections.

I have no objections to the 9th. I look forward to seeing you all again.

@immlass Isn't Feb. 9th a Sunday?

February 9 is a Sunday unless my iCal is messing me up again. (I have been known to accidentally look a year ahead.)

Came in to say I'm out of town 25 Jan. but if the consensus is the 9th, then great, I'm there!

philosophistry - I think immlass meant that she'd finalize the meetup on Thursday - not that the meetup was going to be on a Thursday.

Yeah, I have now updated it for Sunday February 9. I was just waiting until this morning to make sure nobody had any comments before I finalized it.

Check in, y'all!

Just kicking this post up so that anyone who is following it will see it again in recent activity/favorites. Looking forward to seeing all of you!

It looks like I might be able to make the tail end of this, maybe. Would someone be so kind as to post here when the meetup breaks up?
posted by adamrice at 7:42 AM on February 7, 2014

Sure! Glad this floated -- I'd forgotten. See y'all Sunday!

Excited to see all y'all and have some fish and chips!

That was a lot of fun. Thanks to those who came!

Let's do something for SXSW, and I hear a rumor Jessamyn will be here in April, so look for further announcements in IRL.

Awesome meetup, Ladies and Gents. I look forward to next time.

Sorry I couldn't stick around longer, but these pork ribs weren't going to smoke themselves. Why do I waste half of every Sunday cooking?
posted by Devils Rancher at 4:25 PM on February 9, 2014

Pork ribs, yo. Pork ribs. There is NOTHING wrong with pork ribs.
