Was thinking about proposing a meetup at Supercollider and just saw that Bar Scrawl (previously featured on the blue) did a neat writeup of it. Like Bill Roundy, I got the black hole to drink and it was tasty! They have a happy hour ('til 7, I think) and a cool little rooftop space. Performance: Portland's Funniest Person comedy show
Opening night of Portland's Funniest Person contest, with a lot of the strongest competitors -- the ones who already work at Helium as MCs or features, including Metafilter's own msalt, Gabe Dinger, and Shane Torres. This is a dozen comics doing 5-6 minutes sets of their best material. If you tell them you're a friend of Mark, you can get 2 for 1 tickets (2 for $10). So, my mom's dealing with her second round of cancer, and I'm flying back from L.A. to Chicago for a week to deal with all that. I'm going to need a good night of hedonism to take the edge off.
