I'm going to be co-facilitating a couple of sessions at this year's Fast Forward, a three day festival for the anti-authoritarian left that runs from 17th-19th of August. Tickets are between 35-80 depending on ability to pay. It's going to be pretty cool. Food is included, as is childcare (kids go free!). If you're feeling a bit down about the state of politics at the moment, this is a great place to feel hopeful. [more inside]
Everything is better with cats. There was some interest at the Ice Cream Social to attend this. Who wants to go? FWIW, "early bird" ticket pricing ends August 1st for the $10 tickets. After that they go up to $15. More info here: http://www.catfestmn.com
My band — Kiss My Face — is the opening act at this year's Manupalooza festival, featuring brand new bands, one-offs, solo & side projects, etc. It's ridiculously cheap to get in and the whole thing's In aid of Vrijplaats Leiden. Full details on the OCCII website. [more inside]

I'm going to this year's Movement, May 23 - 25, in Detroit, MI. If any other MeFites are planning to attend for all or part of the festival, perhaps we could have a meetup to discuss our love of, e.g., techno? I'm open to suggestions, but I think a recuperative brunch of some sort might be nice. People do allegedly have to eat and drink at some point, right?

I will be working at the NYC Honey Festival at the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk this Saturday. It just occurred to me to post it here. Come take advantage of one of the few remaining nice Saturdays of 2012! And get free samples of local honey, and drink locally-brewed beer with honey in it, and check out a honey extraction and glassed-in observation hive! And probably listen to me geek out about varroa mite mitigation techniques!
Hey! Will anybody else be attending XOXO next week? If so, wanna say hi at the opening party on Thursday night?
