I think we all had a great time gaming and such last year -- let's do it again! The full show map hasn't been released yet, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a handheld lounge with beanbag chairs setup approximately where it was last year. (I'll post a comment with further details and a link to the map once it's available.) Let's plan to meet there on Saturday morning. We'll play it by ear afterwards -- maybe board games, maybe PC or console freeplay -- maybe both if we have more people than last year. [more inside]

Inspiration strikes like lightning in this visually stunning new production by Juventas New Music Ensemble. "Light and Power" tells the story of brilliant but eccentric inventor Nikola Tesla, whose ideas electrified the world both literally and figuratively. This world premier opera pits turn-of-the-century captains of industry against the fantastical creations of Tesla's imagination. In this epic "War of Currents," the results are always shocking. Librettist Jillian Burcar masterfully translates Tesla's bizarre historical writing into powerful drama, while Isaac Schankler's innovative score bridges grand opera and electronic music with distinctly American melodies. Four performances. [more inside]
This year Boston is having its second electronic music festival and once again there is a big record swap/concert/fashion show/dance party. I am playing some records (ambient weird and weird dub and dub techno) starting at noon, and I would love it if you would come. [more inside]
My 40th birthday* is coming up, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than watching some of my favorite movies with the fine folks of Metafilter. Saturday, March 5th, 2-11PM, Somerville Theatre in Davis Square. [more inside]
We'll be meeting for drinks at Murphy's Law, of Gone Baby Gone fame. It's not the closest bar to BCEC, but it's a short easy walk, and hopefully that means it won't be too busy. This'll be Saturday night, overlapping some of the late Saturday events (JoCo and Omegathon round 3, in particular), but there's not a lot of drinking time that doesn't overlap, so there's really no choice. [more inside]
Lots of people can't make it out this weekend, so let's do a second one! [more inside]

Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives is the band I lead, and we're playing at the lovely Cantab dive bar in Cambridge's Central Square this Saturday! Catchy rock with witty lyrics - you know the drill. 21+, $8. We go on at 11 sharp, but earlier bands look interesting, especially the Cello Chix at 9. As for us: Band page, myspace page, more song clips.
The band for which I sing, strum, and write is playing in Harvard Square this Friday! Catchy rock with witty lyrics - what's not to love? 21+, nominal cover (like $3). Band page, myspace page, more song clips. If you want to say hi beforehand, I will be the guy in the buzzcut looking bored from waiting all night for his set to start. OK pub food if you get there earlier.
