820 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA, USA (Map & Directions)
Inspiration strikes like lightning in this visually stunning new production by Juventas New Music Ensemble. "Light and Power" tells the story of brilliant but eccentric inventor Nikola Tesla, whose ideas electrified the world both literally and figuratively. This world premier opera pits turn-of-the-century captains of industry against the fantastical creations of Tesla's imagination. In this epic "War of Currents," the results are always shocking. Librettist Jillian Burcar masterfully translates Tesla's bizarre historical writing into powerful drama, while Isaac Schankler's innovative score bridges grand opera and electronic music with distinctly American melodies. Four performances.

I was talking to one of the singers the other day and thought it sounded like a really interesting piece (although I have a pretty high tolerance for microtones).

Wow, small world! (I assume you mean low tolerance? FYI the score is pretty eclectic and only occasionally microtonal.)
