Wed January 5 at 6:00 PM, The Goat
430 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL, USA (Map & Directions)
So, folks, are we meeting up on January the 5th at the Goat, or will we all be a) too cold; b) too out of town; c) too tired from skiing; d) too emptied of holiday cheer to give it a try?
I'm there, & anybody who isn't is a yellow-bellied sapsucker.

I have never been to the Goat. Is it at street level?
I would be coming in from the burbs via Metra and cabbing it over from the station.
thanks!

The Goat is on Lower Michigan. There's a stairwell in front of the Walgreens on the west side of the street on Upper Michigan. It says "Billy Goat Tavern" on it, actually.

Thanks for the info. I had read a few IRLs regarding the Goat and sort of remembered that it was downstairs or something.
Count me in if the event does happen. If not, then next month.

Oh, I could sort of maybe make this. With the seasonal depression though, people would probably just rather I didn't come. I'm considering only attending meetups that Eamon is at, because I think I need a chaperone/cheerleader, and he seems a likely candidate.

PRO TIP:
Toggling between "Yes" and "Maybe" keeps the same number of elements above the click action (with a brief flicker as you switch lists) so you can click the same place over and over without repositioning. Clicking "No" removes your name as an element, so you have to reposition your mouse, slowing down your clicks.
I am *SURE* this is a use case pb envisioned while coding.

I was listening to the arguments from this SCOTUS term, to pass the time at work today. I was shocked at how I could almost no longer tell the angry white men on the bench apart just from their voices.
As I recall, in the Catholic calendar, Christmas is the season of the liturgical year which lasts from the birth of Christ (Christmas Day) until the baptism of Christ on the Epiphany, January 6 (I grew up thinking the Epiphany was actually the arrival of the Magi at the manger--but my sister corrected me this year). The Twelve Days of Christmas are the twelve days of the liturgical season of Christmas, basically, but I don't know what partridges and maids-a-milking have to do with it. Advent is the liturgical season prior to the birth of Christmas. So, "the reason for the season" doesn't actually make a lot of sense, cause the Christmas season doesn't actually start until we're all done shopping and have started boozing and making resolutions.
Mmm. Pizza.

Further confusing the issue (Epiphany) last Sunday AM I was biking to Garfield Park Conservatory and passed a church were mass was starting. Cool, I thought. Warming station and neat church to look at. So I went to part of the mass and it was The Epiphany!
The catholic church for convenience's sake changed the date to the first Sunday after New Year's Day.
And it was all about the arrival of the Magi, the baptism thing was never brought up. I was tempted to raise my hand and ask questions but that would be quite a breach of decorum. I was very confused and for the first time actually thought about the meaning of the word and how it didn't fit with three wisemen showing up with gifts. And I have conflated Las Posadas with the Epiphany in my pea brain. Ball of confusion.

Because clocks hate cheezeborgers. Their roundness is an affront to all of clock-kind, and the fact that cheese and buns want to hang out with the burgers and not with the clocks makes the clocks sad inside. So they do everything they can to slow down their hands when they know cheezeborgers are on the horizon.

Oh, and not counting appearances in documentaries or as herself (including dubbing Angela Basset in the biopic), Tina Turner has appeared in four movies: Tommy, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and the Last Action Hero. She also had a cameo as herself on Single Female LawyerAlly McBeal. I have saved you from the googling it yourself.
