Ranalli's of Andersonville
1516 W Berwyn, Chicago, IL

Typical (though very good) cheapish thin-crust pizza. Also Wi-Fi for Cupcake's infernal iPad.

Antica Pizzeria
5663 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL

Super-fancy (and, frankly, pricy) brick oven pizza. I order the ham, egg, and pea pizza and it is absolutely incredible.

We will be celebrating our first Friday in our new place and will either be ready for a night out or Andy will be ready to be rid of me for a night, I'm sure. Either way I'm in. (if I survive the move.)

Is Ranalli's of Andersonville associated with any of the other Ranalli's?

Ranalli's on Clark has one of the lamest buffets I've ever been to on weekends.

I think I'm free. But I have no opinion. And I rarely manage very very late anymore.

OK, I'm putting this in my !@#$ing calendar and I'm going to make it to a meetup, dammit. Haven't been since Pequod's about 6 months back. I live in Uptown, so I have no excuse not to go.

I have no strong feelings for or against Ranalli's but, honestly, I rarely eat pizza in this neighborhood. If you folks want Pho (Tank Noodle, Hai Yen) or Banh Mi (Ba Le) or Chinese BBQ (Sun Wah) or Ethiopian (Ras Dashen) or Persian (Reza and their amazing kashkeh bademjan)…I got you covered. Otherwise, I'll pizza wherever, yo.

Now that I think about it, Tedino's does reasonable deep dish.

So, okay - I live in Uptown. And one of my New Year's Try-Maybes is to get out and meet new people IRL. So I really have no excuse to miss it. Is this happening, and where is the place where I click the button for "attending?"
posted by tzikeh at 7:59 PM on January 8, 2011 [1 favorite]

It doesn't go to attending until it becomes an actual event rather than a proposed event, which should be happening on Wednesday. You should vote for which place you want!

Pizza, beer, and Karaoke sound great!

Since its in Andersonville on a Friday night, can we work in some Too Much Light?

If the Bong is involved, I doubt TMLMTBGB would happen (unless there's a non-karaoke splinter group). The Bong is endless and all-consuming. No one leaves before midnight. Certainly not Eamon.
posted by Windigo at 7:08 AM on January 10, 2011

Due to some rather stringent budget concerns, we could probably make it for just the beer portion of the evening, and I would love to meet more Uptown folks. However, if the dog's surgery is scheduled for sometime this week, we won't be able to make it because I can't bear to leave him along with the cone and the drugs and the stitches. It's too heartbreaking.
posted by booknerd at 9:48 AM on January 10, 2011

On one hand, I live like three blocks from Ranalli's.

On the other hand, I'm in Washington for work all week and I won't be flying home until Friday night.

On the terrifying, misshapen third hand, I'd suppose I'd still be able to make it to a sufficiently late event, and I've been wanting to go to something since I flaked on the last one.

Maybe the 21st instead?

I'm the opposite of a complainer.

Also, Ranalli's is right next to the-ex-with-the-track-bike-and-the-neck-tattoo's apartment,* so if I traumatically run into an ex for the second time this week I'll save so much money as I drown my emoness in copious amounts of beer.

Also, the porn button is the fourth little round button from the left on the first row of the remote (select the circle with "19" in it). And ask Daniella to turn on the disco lights.

EAMONNNNNNNNN *flail*

I don't think you're real, anymore. You're just a projection of our hopes, dreams, and yearnings. A collective hallucination of a bearded leader, one that shepherds us towards the karaoke contained within each of our souls. We needed someone, a cipher, to tell us that yes, it is ok to let those song-stylings out and that lo, once we do we will be rewarded with ALL the tiny beers of fulfillment that we desire.

Why did you forsake us, Imaginary Eamon?
