OK so you're not into amaro, is there another option for Bay Area Mefites? THERE IS NOW. This venue is a cheap-and-cheerful alehouse with a variety of beers on tap. This is strictly a casual event -- swing by to say 'hi', leave when you want. No biggie.

There are guest beers from "friends of Pyramid" as well.
Food is always an option and I plan to exercise that option - the menu is here (Yelp link). Cheese and mac for $5? Sure.
METAFILTER signs at the table will enable you to locate the group; I may bring some blank labels and Sharpies so if people want to identify themselves by their handle or whatever, they can do that (completely optional).
If you're concerned about finding the MetaFilter table, I suggest you walk in the front door, and do a full circuit around the bar, you'll probably find us. I do not have a phone so will not be available to help you locate the venue/table in real time, please connect with other Mefites in the thread below if you'd like to coordinate something!

Great! Basically this is a consolation event for me as I don't fancy trekking back from SF on BART late at night, drunk as a skunk on amaro. :D
I thought I'd leave the stress man at home this time, people were a mixture of puzzled and delighted by this "prop" at last meetup I arranged.

hahaha oh man, on first read through I thought "stress man" was weird code for We had a deal, Kyle. And I was like huh!? is she referring to her husband as a prop?! Being a literal stress ball makes waaaaaay more sense. and I am dumb.

I, for one, am 1000% in favor of more meetups out here (Concord would be awesome, since I work in PH, and when Things Settle Down we'll post up that threatened Oakley event!).

bashos_frog's proposed beer-tasting meetup seemed to be leaning towards Concord.
The PH branch of Zachary's might be good (mostly small tables, but it does have one big long pub bench). Not convenient for BART peeps though.

If a non-BARTable event like Zachary's (or Oakley) happens, maybe BART pick-ups could be coordinated. I have room for 2 passengers (or 3 if they're very slender!).
We got a couple of games for Christmas (Tokaido, Merchants and Marauders) and haven't tried them yet. The only game Mefi meetups I've seen have been on the peninsula, so if someone can come up with a good location to bring games to, let me know!

I'm in Oakland, and always happy to coordinate pick-ups either pre- or post-tunnel! If anyone ever needs a ride just memail me. Whoever rides shotgun can bask their butt in my car's sweet seat warmers.

Ouch; for future reference the City of Walnut Creek garage on Broadway is first hour free / 50c per hour after that. Should link to parking info on future meetups, I guess.

I really should have done my own parking research; I just didn't think to because I had this idea that they had their own lot. (Maybe that's the Berkeley one.) Thanks for the tip, though! Next time.

Oh! I missed the kitten adoption conversation. Count me in if, um, you don't mind me turning into a blubbering mess. My cat sitter is a volunteer at the animal shelter in Oakland, and damn does she have some stories. I half want to visit to give them all some love, but I'm genuinely afraid I would leave with, like, ninety cats. and part of me is like, yeah, ninety cats! that would be AWESOME.
