Wow, this would normally be my dream as I constantly seem to have songs that I think would be perfect for someone else (usually a specific someone) to do for karaoke, but I'm at a loss.
Meanwhile, ever since I realized that songs I like but think might be entirely terrible are the only songs I should ever do at karaoke, I now have a whole wide list of possibilities for myself, each slightly a worse idea than the last.
But I will listen to songs over the next few days for others in case the need arises Wednesday night.

Also, for those new to the cabal, you may want to follow @mefichi on twitter. It's the voice of the cabal, and will probably be useful in finding us for various park outings this month.
even if you don't twitter, it's pretty easy to set it up so that when @mefichi tweets, you get a text.

I think that might require the owner of the iPad going to karaoke, which, while I would totally do everything in my power to encourage this, I would also not hold my breath for.
Speaking of karaoke, stumbling upon "The Best of INXS" this morning is totally blowing a whole in my already-full-of-unformed-possibilities karaoke list and I recommend anybody take a look at it.

I've found this semi-canonical list of New Wave classics helpful in the past. (Track lengths thoughtfully included!)

I find that list is amazing, which probably surprises no one as a quick scan shows that 12 of the 15 volumes contain songs either currently on my karaoke possible list or previous entrants that were disqualified for artistic choice reasons. (I want to be the kind of guy who can pull of "Johnny Are You Queer" in the way I'd intend it but have finally decided I am not.)
Tonight's top 3 non-INXS, non-Depeche Mode possibilities are also all on the list.
(For the record, I checked out for the business day about 5 hours ago, so I was very tempted to process the data for the list even more than I just did.)

Yay familiar faces returning after a long while.... all of the fun of seeing a new person without the additional social anxiety of not being sure how to introduce myself until hours later when a reasonable window for such a thing has passed.

Golly, I wish I could have made it. In the middle of a bunch of changes here, job-wise and life-wise that preclude fun. For now, at least. Hoping to make to at least a couple of the month's activities.
