Austin MeFites: come band together and stand together at city hall this evening as we mobilize to demand protection for the Mueller investigation to hold president Trump and the cronies of his administration accountable for their actions. The forced resignation of Jeff Sessions and the subsequent replacement of Rod Rosenstein by Trumpist stooge Matt Whittaker should not go unanswered. This is nothing but a transparent step towards ending or discrediting the investigation, and the people of Austin, Texas will not be fooled. [more inside]

The DC DSA chapter's next general meeting is 3-5pm on Sunday, 8/19, and I thought it would be great for those of us who are going or who are interested in politics and activism generally to have a place to talk shop afterward. You are also absolutely welcome if you aren't interested in the DSA -- this meetup is truly for DC progressives of all stripes. The cafe, Le Pain Quotidien, is chosen for its proximity to Dupont Circle Metro. [more inside]
