January Brunch at RMH

Sun January 3 at 8:30 AM, Ronald McDonald House
5444 S Drexel Ave, Chicago, IL, USA (Map & Directions)
Let's go to the Ronald McDonald house in Hyde Park and make brunch for the families of sick kids in Janurary
Part of the series of brunch meetups we're going to have at the Hyde Park Ronald McDonald House (5444 South Drexel Avenue, Chicago, IL). Dates are reserved for the first Sunday of every other month (November, January, March, etc.) until the end of 2016.
We've done this a couple times before. Brunch time is targetted at 10:30am, so plan accordingly as to when to show up. I'm planning on getting there around 8:30 to help everyone out and start working on whatever concoction I'm making.
The Hyde Park house asks that we don't bring more than 12 volunteers, but I don't expect that's a problem.
The house has 98% of the utensils and tools you need for cooking, we just need people to a) volunteer to be head chef for a brunch dish or b) volunteer to be sous chef for any / all of the head chefs. A variety of dishes that can get around a variety of tastes, allergies, and dietary restrictions is preferred by us, though the house is just happy for us to show up. We're typically cooking for 25 guests + us, and they'd prefer us to err on the side of leftovers if we can. We've rarely had issues with that though.
It'd be a good idea for us bring our own chef knife (theirs are all dull), notecards for food labels (with allergens listed), and some large tupperware's for the house for leftovers. Shout out in the comments if you're bringing any of these.
A couple of us drive down there, so if you need a ride, mention it and we'll get you there.

Something sweet for sure-- not sure what yet... lots of time to decide :)

I expect to be in town and I figure I'll do a baked oatmeal, but I may change my mind.

If it's not going to fight with the cornbread, I'm thinking baked egg boats.

Bout a month left, so we need to try to firm up some sort of menu, even if it's fake.

I'll stick with baked oatmeal then. Probably some sort of breakfast sausage to go along?

It sounds like Denail's gonna do baked ham.
So tentatively
Baked Ham
Cornbread pancakes
black eyed peas
baked oatmeal
baked egg boats
fruit salad
That sounds pretty good as a fake menu.

This looks like an awesome menu and pretty complete. Unless anyone thinks of a way to round it out I'll sign up as an official pancake flipper!

Does anyone know if there are baking pans (8 inch round or 9x9)? If anyone still has to hit the shops. I'll pay you for some disposable aluminum pans. I forgot to pick them up.

And I seem to have come down with a sore throat/general bleh-ness, so I probably shouldn't be around and cooking for a bunch of people. Looking forward to March though

I just double checked my email from Ronald McDonald House, and it definitely says 10:30 a.m. for brunch.

i mailed the volunteer coordinator and she said the email, which did say 10:30, was wrong, and they prefer 10:00am so that people can get to the hospital sooner. I've requested details on when we can show up based off of that.
