November Brunch at RMH

Sun November 1 at 8:30 AM, Ronald McDonald House
5444 S Drexel Ave, Chicago, IL, USA (Map & Directions)
Let's go to the Ronald McDonald house in Hyde Park and make brunch for the families of sick kids.
Part of the (new) series of brunch meetups we're going to have at the Hyde Park Ronald McDonald House (5444 South Drexel Avenue, Chicago, IL). Dates are reserved for the first Sunday of every other month (November, Janurary, March, etc.) til the end of 2016.
We've done this a couple times before. Brunch time is targetted at 10:30am, so plan accordingly as to when to show up. I'm planning on getting there around 8 to help everyone out and start working on whatever concoction I'm making.
The Hyde Park house asks that we don't bring more than 12 volunteers, but I don't expect that's a problem.
The house has 98% of the utensils and tools you need for cooking, we just need people to a) volunteer to be head chef for a brunch dish or b) volunteer to be sous chef for any / all of the head chefs. A variety of dishes that can get around a variety of tastes, allergies, and dietary restrictions is preferred by us, though the house is just happy for us to show up. We're typically cooking for 25 guests + us, and they'd prefer us to err on the side of leftovers if we can. We've rarely had issues with that though.
A couple of us drive down there, so if you need a ride, mention it and we'll get you there.

Anybody have any menu ideas?
I think I'm gonna make a sweet bread pudding.

I think I'll do spinach, potato hash. One with sausage, one without (maybe with veggie sausage).

I'm just bringing a ton of bacon since I'm sure I'll be zonked from Halloween and Daylight Savings.

re fruit salad -- This is the secret thing I always bring because I buy the pre-cut fruit from treasure island, then throw it in the bowl and it's done -- yeah! So, you're allowed to steal this, but now I need to come up with another backup secret, easy, delicious thing to bring along.

Also, it looks like we have 12 people who are coming -- that's our volunteer limit. Yeah for interest! boo that it means some people might not be able to come.

alright menu submission time:
fruit salad -- tardisCompanion & companion
french toast bread pudding -- garlic
spinach and potato hash -- crush
bacon -- Eamon
cake -- phunniemee
no worries if you change what you're doing, they just like to give the residents an idea of what's going to be available.

Also it's currently a full house, so plan for 30 guests, + us.

Turns out this is not a good weekend for me to host post-brunch mimosas and I'm sorry for that. Maybe next time.
Also, I have to octuple (or 9x, even!) my hash recipe for 30 +us!

Bah, I'm terrible about checking these threads. ><
I'll bring fruit salad and I'll make two fruit crumbles (1 blueberry/peach and one apple). This will help pad the sweet stuff a bit-- since we have a full house.
See you lovely folks tomorrow!
