Sat July 13 at 2:00 PM, ocherdraco's apartment (#4D, buzzer #407)
192 East 8th Street, Brooklyn, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
Our JULY meetup will be Saturday the 13th. Bring your games, snacks and/or drinks. Please post in the thread what you're bringing so others can make sure they don't bring the same thing, and/or so they can drool over the thought of homemade cookies. These meetups usually last 8-10 hours, so feel free to come over even if you can't make it for the first hour or three.
As previously, we'll be starting at 2pm.
No June meetup, as we aren't going to be home on any June weekend (and I will, in fact, be out of town for almost the entire month).

I bought Cornucopia, Dark Ages, and Alchemy for Dominion! Aaaaah!

Hey all, will you accept a Philly-Mefi-board-game-transplant? Thank ya kindly. PS: I will bring wine if that at all influences your decision.

I went to the Philly one a few months ago--we can have an exchange program.

Please join us, Katine! Bring whatever you want to bring, wine or otherwise. I will say that we seem to drink far more beer than wine at these things, but perhaps you'll start a trend! (If you drink white, I'll drink it with you.)

Tau ceti & I are in the area just for the summer, so our weekends have been a blur of omg-we're-in-NYC-and-not-Michigan things so far, but... board games. Tempting. I'll report back later after we confer.

I'm having a wisdom tooth removed Friday morning, so I'll be staying home to be safe. Wish I could make it!

Hello! Accept a Singapore transplant temporarily in New Haven for a college programme? (: I'm not too sure I'll know what kind of food to bring though, as much as I'd like to, since it would be my first weekend in the US. (Transit directions would be greatly appreciated too. The train is the way to get there from New Haven, right?)

New Haven, Connecticut? Yale-area? I'll let the locals guide you on transit, but just as a head's up, you're talking ~2 hours by car to get down to the NYC area, probably more by train. (I only mention this since the non-USians in my life tend to think places on the East Coast are closer together than they are, and if you haven't looked at the distances, you might not know that.) Not to dissuade you though!

Please come, undue influence! There's no need for you to bring food, as you are coming so far.
Here is how to get to our place from New Haven: take the Metro North train from New Haven Union Station to New York Grand Central Terminal. This part will take about two hours. Inside Grand Central, find the entrance to the Grand Central-42nd Street subway stop. You will need to purchase a MetroCard or a single use ticket. Get on the 4 or the 5 (the green line on the subway map) toward Downtown and Brooklyn, and take it to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center. At Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, get on the B towards Brighton Beach or the Q towards Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue (they leave from the same platform). Take the B/Q to Church Avenue. Find the exit to Church Avenue. When you exit, turn right, and walk down Church Avenue until you reach E 8th Street. You will pass Bobby's Department Store, and cross Coney Island Avenue before you reach E 8th. Turn left on E 8th, and our building will be the first one on the right. Buzz #407.
If you have any trouble, call me at 646-484-8636.

If that seems overwhelming, here's the simple version:
1. Metro North to Grand Central
2. 4 subway line to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center
3. Q subway line to Church Avenue
4. Walk to the intersection of E 8th Street & Church Avenue

Well, technically, all the ones we have are grobstein's. The ones we have in the house are the original Dominion, Seaside, and Prosperity.

Also, in case anyone was wondering: we have an air conditioner in both the living room and the bedroom, so we won't be getting overheated.

Thanks ocherdraco and SpaceWarp13! On one hand, it would be a nice break from readings and seminars to join you guys, and on the other hand, we have an optional trip to Walmart and some outlet mall tomorrow, the first of which which as I understand is something of an American institution ;)

Hi guys, tau_ceti is still recovering from some nasty infectious thing that nearly had me making a late night post to the green last night about urgent care facilities in Brooklyn. He's feeling a lot better now, but I think we're probably going to pass on infecting you all IRL. Hopefully August?

Oh, I'll give this a go. I LOVE Dominion and the people that I typically play with now have a small child and can't play that often anymore. So, I guess I will meet some mefites.
...post in the thread what you're bringing...
I read this ask meta about cheese a few months ago and realized that I know nothing about cheese...
On that note, I will bring a couple cheeses from Zabar, and a baguette and crackers. I was going to bring more stuff but to me it is a haul to BKN.
No games to bring but, did I say that I'm willing to play Dominion?

I have a thing from 4-6, is it weird to show up after that?
I have Zombie Fluxx, would people be into that?

It would not be weird to show up after 6. Feel free. As for Zombie Fluxx, there are usually some folks who like Fluxx around.
Wolfster, the cheese, baguette, and crackers sound delightful!
Now I just have to clean the apartment...

FYI, if anyone arrives right at two, we may still be neatening up the apartment and getting set up.
