What's the point of having access to the masterpieces of cinema if you never actually watch them? It's time to remedy this sad state of affairs, one movie at a time.
Introducing: Criterion Sundays, where each weekend we* will gather for a potluck dinner and watch one of the hundreds of Criterion Collection films available through Roku/Hulu Plus.
This week: Henri-Georges Clouzot's DIABOLIQUE, the best Hitchcock film that Hitchcock never got around to making.
*ocherdraco and (The Rt Hon.) MP, and friends, including non-mefites
Potluck portion (if you're interested) starts at 6 - we'll be serving some kind of (vegan) group dish - if folks can bring either a vegan food item or beverage (beer is always a good pick), that's appreciated, but what's most important is to bring yourself. Movie starts at 7 on the dot.

Also: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RSVP. This is being held in our apartment, which is not infinitely large, so we need to know how many people are coming, and whether we should expect you.

As a film nerd, I love this, though I'm busy for the inaugural meetup. For any future ones, I own some of the Criterion films that are no longer available and/or not on Hulu, like Sid and Nancy.

dag burnit, I am arriving in Brooklyn the night of Feb 4, or else I would be totally there.
I'll be in DUMBO most of the week during daylight hours, Tuesday to Thursday. I might get off my ass and propose a cafe meetup in the area.

zippy, please do! I'll also be in DUMBO that week. Possibly crazy busy, but I'd make it if I could. (ocherdraco, my flight gets in at 3 Sunday, I am still pondering if I can make the timing work out!)
