Sure! That should work for me!

I am unable to meet as I will be child-wrangling.

I am happy to offer any kind of advice regarding food & drinks though. E. 4th Street is the touristy section - solid bog-standard good time. Just wander over that way and pick your poison. (Society Lounge has a solid atmosphere)

If you want a downtown dive, go to Ontario Street Cafe (cash only). My favorite inexpensive eats downtown are Sapporo sushi on East 6th (my favorite in town), but Sushi 86 in the 5th Street Arcade is also really good.

If you like beer, you should take the rapid from Tower City to W25th/Ohio City (or get a ride share, you do you) where all the breweries are. You can eat pretty much anywhere along that strip. Standard gentrified bar cuisine. Town Hall is notable for bending over backwards for anyone with a dietary restriction though. ABC Tavern is the popular dive over there, but B&G is better.

My 100% recommended activities are going to Le Petit Triangle in Ohio City for any meal at any time and getting cocktails at The Velvet Tango Room.

I'm in for the 26th.

I'm not a fan of Town Hall personally (The father of the owner is transphobic and although his son, the owner has verbally distanced himself away from those comments, there are plenty of other great places nearby there unless you have remarkably unusual dietary accommodations).

Although VTR is excellent, it's pricey ($15-20/drink) if you're still in academia. Sorry for the negativity!

As sciurus, most places on 25th are gastropub cuisine and plenty of good breweries and really aren't going wrong with options on that street; Ontario is practically the only dive bar remaining in downtown. If you're staying downtown, w25th and ohio city is a 10min bus ride.

If you're much more into Asian cuisines, Asiatown, just east of downtown has great food that's also a 10min bus or ride share away.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm vegetarian, so sushi is probably out, but I'm happy to go anywhere else. I'm not intimidated by public transportation, and dive bar is definitely more my speed than French cuisine! Any other Clevelanders with strong food/drink opinions?

(I'd say wrangled children are welcome at the meetup if you want to bring them along!)

$15-20 is definitely out of my drink price range!!!!!!

And I'd like to avoid transphobia!

I like Bar Cento on W 25th a lot, but I don’t want to make too many assumptions about price range. They have solid coal-oven pizza.

Barrio tacos on E 4th and Prospect (?) will have solid vegetarian options and decent cocktails.

I’ll come back with more options too. I work downtown sometimes but it’s hard to remember what’s open for dinner.

I have to do some schedule-wrangling before I commit, but as usual I'm down for a meetup at least in theory.

FWIW, the Cavs are at home that night, and there's a fairly big metal show at the House of Blues, so parking and eating & drinking around the Q/E. 4th/Prospect/Euclid Ave. might be pretty messy.

Seconding fizzix's side-eye at Town Hall (plus, frankly I think they're a little "woo" about the health of their food.)

If W.25th seems a little more likely, I'd just to remind folks of the excellent Phnom Penh, and of course MITCHELL'S ICE CREAM. (sorry, sorry, I'll stop yelling.)

I work downtown and would probably be up for a drink. I can walk to E. 4th .. my office is at Playhouse Square. I'll keep on eye on this and do my best to be there!

Re Mitchells, I'd be extremely into ice cream for dinner tbh.

Phnom Penh looks really delicious, and I'm also pro-ice cream. How do folks feel about that?

I suggested it, so I'm good with it.

Although, y'know, for the record, I am not officially advocating ice cream for dinner.

Called it! Phnom Penh closes at 8, so I guess we'll have to meet for dinner earlier than might be ideal, closer to 6:30. Ice cream, however, is open until 11!

Excellent. I cleared my schedule, so count me as confirmed.

Regretfully I am going to miss this .. I'll be spending my day in Buffalo getting an expedited passport renewal for a rather dreaded work trip overseas. I will really try to make the next meetup in I think May. Hope you all have a great time.

Ugh, unfortunately I am out. Super bummed, I hope you people have an amazing time!

Sad to miss you two!

Thanks for the warm wishes, we'll miss you! I'll be there tonight.

Sorry to hear that, chesty & Kangaroo. I guess I'll just have to eat enough ice cream for three people. . . . .

I'll be heading over right from work, and my work isn't far, so I might end up there first. Regardless, as it turns out today I'm wearing a knit cap (with pompom) that's pretty close to Metafilter Blue in color, so it'll either be on my head or I'll set it on the table so we can find each other.

Also, I look like a soundguy.

I'm actually in the area today but I'm not sure I can stay until 6:30. Before I head home I'll duck into the restaurant to see if anyone showed up early so I can say hi.

I don't know if I look like a churachura, you'll have to tell me. I'll head over early and see if I can't catch you, Tehhund!

Looks like I'll be there 6:15-6:30 so hopefully see you there!

Made it, I'm the stiff in a plaid shirt who looks like he just came from work because, well, I just came from work.
