Anyone going to SAA in Cleveland this year? I don't know the landscape of restaurants/bars/etc. there, but it would be fun to hang out with other MeFites either local to Cleveland or attending the conference. Sometime Thursday-Friday-Saturday 8/20-22 would work for me.
We are going to meet up and drink some beers*. [more inside]
I'm not new to Cleveland, but I'd like to meet some NEO mefites. It looks like there was a meetup almost 2 years ago, can we do it again? Anyone interested? What to do and where to do it currently are up in the air. I live in the city but love an opportunity to go new places, too!
The Puget Sound District of the International Socialist Organization is hosting a "BBQ, beer, and conversation about radical labor history" in Ballard featuring MY MOM Anne Mackie, revolutionary socialist and former Teamsters Union organizer. If you plan to attend please RSVP via Facebook (so the organizers can get a head count) in addition to RSVPing here, arrive promptly, and read the homework assignments (1, 2, 3, 4) in advance.
So, he hasn't made a big deal out of it, but MeFi's own flapjax at midnite is currently meandering around the U.S. playing some shows. Tour schedule if you want to see where else he's been or will be. This Friday 11/8 he'll be at The Royal Oaks in Youngstown. The club's Facebook page. Nothing about the gig on there, but flapjax has confirmed it's happening. He'll start about 8 pm. [more inside]
Cleveland: we can do this. Almost there. (UPDATE: We did it - we set a date!) [more inside]
