5 Embarcadero Center, San Francisco, CA, USA (Map & Directions)
Hey San Francisco, grab your lab coats and let's march! All STEMfolk and friends of science are welcome!
March begins at 11:00 a.m. with a rally in Justin Herman Plaza with invited speakers, then at 12:30 we march up Market Street to Civic Center. March ends with a fair to celebrate science.

I can finally pick up mine! Or would! But I have a conflict, so am probably not going to be able to make it, alas. Anyone going to the Release Your Taxes March this weekend?

Oh rats, Mag Plug and I were at the Tax March in SF today - could have handed over your hat! I'm kind of kicking myself I didn't set up a MeFi meetup for this march too.
Anyway, howzabout we meet at noon at the northern Millennium Light at Harry Bridges Plaza (between the Ferry Building and Justin Herman Plaza), and stroll over to join the march when everyone's here?
I don't care much for motivational speakers - even when I agree with them - so I'm timing this to avoid most of the rally, but if people want to hear the speeches I'm open to meeting up earlier.
If I don't hear any comments about the preferred time and place to meet, I'll edit the post to reflect this plan.

I will be there! If anyone has parking suggestions I'm open to them, as I'm coming from the North Bay (willing to BART or MUNI part of the way, too).

Hi lazuli, thanks for showing up to support science! BART would be a great option since the march begins and ends right near 2 BART stations. (Get off at the Embarcadero station and walk about 1 block to the meeting point, then catch your train after the march at the Civic Center station.) I'd imagine you could find parking fairly easily on a Saturday at most East Bay BART stations. However, parking in downtown SF is a nightmare pretty much any time. Or maybe you could take a ferry to the Ferry Building, then BART/Muni back to the Ferry Building after the march?

Also, if anybody wants a lab coat, I dug out my old lab coat from grad school and washed it today. It's clean but stained (not blood, the brown specks are actually silver stain) and it's pretty beat up, but if you want a vintage women's small lab coat with my name on it, it's yours. Might come in handy at Halloween, or give it back to me after the march.

I am definitely going in my awesome T-rex inflatable costume. If anyone else wants to acquire a T-rex costume, please join my dino gang!

Don't think I can make it this time, Quietgal. Apologies. I'll be there in spirit!

The March for Science was a lot of fun - so many clever and hilarious signs! It was great to see everyone who managed to meet up at the light tower, veterans of the Women's March and new friends alike, and I hope the others had a great time wherever you ended up.
Please share your favorite signs and slogans!
I'll start: "Coal is bad. Just ask Santa Claus."

Lovely to meet you all! My favorite sign was still "Knowing stuff is good. Seriously, I can't believe I have to march for this, jeez."

Well, after instigating a T-rex contingent, I ended up with a work commitment and couldn't be there. My friends, however, made the paper.
Let me know when there is another event suitable for a T-rex gang.
