Friday night, Peter Chang's in Rockville Town Center. 7:00. I'll call for a reservation on January 27, so let me know if you're in by then! If you want to do something afterwards, let me know! posted by ChuraChura to Meetup (33 comments total)

It would be great to see you again! I am down for whatever.

I should definitely be able to do dinner drinks that weekend.

Was the Renwick open when you were in town last? "Wonder" lives up to the advertising. I'm going to see the Greek bronzes at the NGA on the 31st, but if that's something you'd be interested in, the exhibit looks good.

Yay! I hope to see you!

YAY! See you soon!

Yay!

The Renwick wasn't open last time I was in town, or, if it was, I missed it. I'd also like to get to the Native American museum, and see what Muppet is on display at the History Museum, if anyone would like to accompany me on that excursion (maybe Saturday)?

Is Friday night or Saturday night better for dinner/drinks?
Is there anywhere particularly emblematic (but not expensive) we should eat at?

I asked Mrs. Pterodactyl if she had any interest in that outing and now she's just saying "Muppet" over and over again, so we're probably in.

No preference for Friday vs Saturday, but wanted to note that there's this interesting Burmese dessert pop-up happening Saturday afternoon.

Museums and/or whatnot on Saturday works best for me.

I could do a thing on Friday. catastrophewaitress can probably come too!

OK, cool! How about dinner on Friday, museum + maybe something else on Saturday?

I will definitely try to come to a Friday event!

Excellent. Where is a yummy and convenient place to eat at, from which we could move on to drinks easily?
posted by ChuraChura at 5:20 PM on January 12, 2016

(Of the non- and alcoholic variety, maybe?)

I'm planning on going to the Renwick on Saturday anyway! I just happened on this by chance.

Oh shit. I just realized that this is for the end of the month. Never mind. I'll be in Baltimore.

Good: I'm going to be in DC that week!
Bad: I'll be flying out Friday afternoon, most likely. Boo!

Hopefully I'll make the next DC meetup.

Food ideas for Friday night!
  • Taqueria Nacional is an unpretentious, very affordable, very delicious taco place in the U Street area. They serve drinks as well, and other drinking establishments are in walking distance. For the non-alcohol crowd, they have horchata as well.
  • Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill has some of the best burgers in DC, and some incredible milkshakes (the soursop strawberry is my personal favorite). I was going to suggest post-dinner board games at nearby Labyrinth Games, but it looks like they've got some kind of Magic: the Gathering event that night. Too bad.
  • Ethiopian again! Etete and Dukem on U Street are both great. Lots of other places are great too. Yay Ethiopian!
  • My assumption is that we're sticking to DC proper, but if you're open to the wider (Metro-accessible) DC Metro region, allow me to put in a plug for the incredible Peter Chang (no relation to P.F.) in Rockville Town Center. Info here. Along with Panda Gourmet in Northeast, this is some of the best Chinese food you can get in the area. (Full disclosure: we live like 5 minutes away.)

All of those sound awesome to me!

How do you guys feel about Metro-accessible Chinese food on Friday night, since duffell and catastrophewaitress will be there?
Then on Saturday, whomever is interested could come visit museums during the day, and we can get dinner at Good Stuff Eatery?

dinner at Good Stuff Eatery

Looks good! I am laughing at their free range turkey burger for reasons.

OK! There's this, and then Saturday, if you're up for it!

For planning's sake, as of now Bulgaroktonos and I are hoping to attend -- apologies if we leave super early because I am so tired!

Wonderful! Sounds like 7 so far - anyone else? I'll make the reservation today.

I should be able to make it to Rockville as well.

Reservation made! 8 people, 7pm, Friday night.

It's a 5-10 minute walk from Rockville Metro. Since we live nearby, I'm happy to be the contact person for anyone who's running late or having trouble finding the place--but I have a flip phone, so it'll have to be call/text only. :-) I'll send a MefiMail with my phone number.

I just found this! I'm planning on being there. Hope it's not too late...but let me know if it is.

Just wanted to say I had a great time yesterday and the food was DELICIOUS. I ate way too much and might still explode at any moment so that's the downside but both the food and company were excellent. Thanks everyone!
