Visiting Seattle, pre-move - lettuce meat!

Hi, PNW! I'm going to be visiting the Seattle area next week (11/12-11/18) and would love to meet some of you guys! I'm open to any kind of activity or venue.
I'm planning on moving to the area next Spring, and this is my research trip. I've wanted to do this since 1977, so it's long overdue, and I'm ridiculously excited. I'd love to have a meetup! I'll be there Wednesday afternoon and I'm leaving early Tuesday morning.
I'd prefer not to have the meetup on Saturday after 12 noon, or on Sunday, because my LDR boyfriend will be joining me for that time and it's "date night" time. ;-) But anything else is fair game. I'm staying in downtown Tacoma, but will have a rental car. The only activities I'm not open to are those that involve smoking (no hookah bars, please), or hunting. Food, drink, trivia, bowling, music, roller derby, general debauchery...your call!

P.S. Should I cross post this to Tacoma? Or do people usually get notified of both?

As far as a place, I don't know any (yet!) Is there a coffee shop somewhere in between? A restaurant?

Sorry, Patheral, no one had suggested a place last time I had checked, and I was so involved yesterday in scoping out neighborhoods and jobs that I forgot to suggest a new day.
Terra Plata sounds great to me, TMOTAT. I'm gonna give this until this evening for more suggestions, and then if no one suggests anything else, I'll confirm it for Monday night.

Also, a question. I have a car, but I was thinking about taking the bus (from Tacoma). Will it be safe for me to walk from this place down to 2nd & Pike at night to catch my bus back? Or should I drive? (in which case, where do I park?)

Six pm works for me and traffic from Tacoma should be bearable for then. Might want to think about reservations.

MexicanYenta, you should be fine to walk from Terra Plata to 2nd and Pike. Also if stet and/or I can make it, we'd be going to the same bus stop (though for a different bus, I think).

I will be there. I was going to make a reservation, but they charge a $25/per person cancellation fee and we don't know how many are showing up. Not sure what to do. :(

Oh, ouch. OK. I am still not sure if I/we can make it but if you can get a firm number from others, go ahead and do that and get your reservation.

I tried for 8 people and they couldn't accommodate that, but 6 they can. I'm wondering if we shouldn't just wing it - we show up, if they don't have room, we walk to someplace else nearby.

You have to reserve with a credit card. If we don't show up, they charge $25 per person that we reserved for. And we don't really have a firm head count anyway. So I'm not sure what to do. MeFites are notorious for not showing up, and if it ends up being just 2, I don't want to pay for 6. On the other hand, if any of our maybes show up, they don't have room for us anyway.

Ouch! Didn't their website say that they have some room for walk in traffic as well? Not that I can make it (cough cough), but I thought I remember seeing that.

(Meanwhile, I can't figure out how to get to the Tacoma museum of glass without walking across the glass bridge. My fear of heights isn't gonna let that happen.)

Thanks, all, it was great to meet you! I managed to find my bus and make it back in once piece.
And I just checked, and sure enough, I'm TSA pre-checked on my flight today, too. Wish I knew how I did that!
