Last month jetlagaddict had the great idea to post an IRL for the block printing class at the Craft and Folk Art Museum. I had so much fun I've signed up for the Papermaking Workshop with Mark Montano and meant to post it here earlier.
Craft Night at CAFAM: Papermaking Workshop with Mark Montano

Thursday, October 2 | 7:00–9:00pm
(Galleries open 6:30–9:30pm)
*Project Demonstrations at 7:00pm & 7:30pm
$8/ Free for Members (includes materials, drinks, and snacks)
In the courtyard

Come learn to make your own paper with celebrity crafter Mark Montano, who will lead this pulpy workshop. All participants will take home their own handmade paper samples, along with Mark’s notes for continuing the process.

Also, the current exhibitions are really, really awesome: there's a textile exhibit with a woven QR code and neuroscience research done in fabric, and an... installation(?) of just....I can't even describe it, it's found objects, amongst others, worked into these intense things.

This is exactly the kind of MeFi IRL event I'd attend if it wasn't during the weeks preceding Hallowe'en. October is a month that is entirely spent putting up props and creating new ones and eating slices of cold pizza in between.

I'd happily attend in November though.

If craft nights continue into the new year, I'm in! (I have school thursday nights.)

Ooh, I just remembered about this crafting space. I also have a few projects in the pipeline that I could bring to the the free Saturday project lounge if people would want to meet for that.
