Sat July 26 at 2:00 PM, ocherdraco's apartment (#4D, buzzer #407)
192 East 8th Street, Brooklyn, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
Our July meetup will be Saturday the 26th. We'll start at 2pm. Bring your games, snacks and/or drinks.
I don't remember what games we played last time, exactly, but I know there was some Hanabi, and some King of Tokyo...

I am really looking forward to this, y'all. My month is just not right when there are no board games.

I got a few new games since last time I came:

Imperial - Longer 2-3 hour economic/territory control game, plays well 3-5. Un-intuitive strategy-wise though.

For Sale - Quick little 20 minute auction game.

Bruxelles 1893 - Haven't tried this yet. Euro worker placement game. Lots of different mechanics and a victory point salad. Hopefully it gels well but it might be too finicky though.

Splendor - Spiel des Jahres nominee, and for good reason. 30 minutes plays 2-4, but interesting game for what is essentially a numbers and colors game.

Ha, I've gotten Splendor, too! I really like it.

Great! Once less box to bring. I got my wife to play through Bruxelles with me last night, and yes, it's quite finicky in remembering all the different phases and steps. I probably should have jumped on the Russian Railroads bandwagon when I was trying to fill out my CSI order, but the Art Nouveau/Architect theme of Bruxelles was too enticing.

FYI everyone: one of Josh's cousins has had the audacity to go and get engaged and to hold their engagement party this Saturday evening. Therefore this meetup is going to be ending at 8pm, so we can attend said party.

I'm happy to bump the start time up to noon if people want it, or we can just go with a six-hour meetup. Let me know!

I'm cool with showing up early, but am flexible. Congrats to Josh's cousin!

I think we're going to keep start time at 2. I've got work that I'm going to have to finish before we start, and it'll be easier to do so if I have a little more time.

I'll be there about 2ish.

That was great fun, thanks all! Also I checked my posting history and near as I can tell the first one of these I ever went to was last July, so happy 1 year Brooklyn board games anniversary to me!

Hey y'all, I had said we'd have the next meetup this coming Saturday, but an impromptu reunion for my college theater group has materialized on that evening.

So here are our options for an August meetup:

Saturday, August 23rd from 10 AM to 4 PM (I know already that this won't work for Chris and Nora, so I'm inclined against it)
Sunday, August 24th from 2 PM onward
Saturday, August 30th from 2 PM onward
Sunday, August 31st from 2 PM onward

Sorry about this; it just sort of sprung up!

And, of course, those last two dates are Labor Day weekend.

Should be around August 24 after midafternoon (wedding brunch commitment) and probably August 31 though I may have to duck out for a bit, if either of those also work for other people!

I'd love the Sunday the 24th option! I have a friend in town over Labor Day weekend, but could possibly bring her along if we chose one of those dates.

Question: should this be in the proposed dates section or it just isn't the time for that? I ask because I only saw this discussion because I happened to run into ferret branca the other day & we discussed meet ups.

You're probably right. I was discussing here first because I thought that would be the best chance of people who came last time to see it (assuming it showed up in Recent Activity) but I probably should have done a proposed meetup post and then just put a comment here.

In any case, I'm going to go ahead and post a confirmed meetup now for Sunday the 24th. See y'all soon!
