Wed February 5 at 5:00 PM, Billy Goat Tavern
430 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL, USA (Map & Directions)
The first Wednesday of February is fast approaching. LET'S DO THIS. Oh and hey guys by the way look what I found.
I would like to formally submit a list of things that are unacceptable reasons to not attend and/or leave early:

-broomball
-kayaking
-poetry
-currently traveling in a different state/country
-living in a suburb
-baby

I would like to also formally submit a list of things that are completely understandable and acceptable reasons to not attend and/or leave early:

-dog

That is all. Thank you for your kind attention.

OK, I definitely thought this was the last week of January. An internal audit (cough, actually looking at a calendar, cough) has revealed that we still have a week and a half left in this month. Who knew.

What if I'm in the suburbs, having just flown back from Puerto Rico where I was kayaking (and I guess listening to poetry?) and now I have to get to a broomball game? while kicking a baby?

Don't forget dog.

i was just wishing i were not incapable of crawling out from under my down comforter cause the Frog sounds like a good time. So, hopefully by 10 days from now, I'll have worked up the courage to leave the comfort of down.

Also, first and last round to the best use of "kayak", "broomball" and "swaddling linen" in a sonnet. I'm laying odds on Iridic

I am going to try to make it, sans-"that guy I live with who is going to be in AUSTIN TX because he gets to be warm (but it's for work so he won't be having fun)."

Snow or inclement weather is also not an acceptable excuse.

Today's fun fact: Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" is 3:29 long.

Cruel summer? really?
Summer is such a dim memory, who knows if it was cruel or not.

All the better reason for someone to sing it at karaoke as a tribute to appease our winter gods and goddesses. Or maybe attract the summer ones. I don't know how these things work.

Maybe "The Immigrant Song" will appease these angry winter gods

1) I was going to take back my previous "weather isn't an excuse" comment but then the snow stopped and it was sunny downtown, and then it started snowing again, and now it is sunny again. In any case, I'll be there.

2) I just realized I have a video conference call with my new director tomorrow at 10 AM. This doesn't really affect anyone else in particular but I wanted to put it out there to keep myself in check.

I'm so sorry, Crush. I haven't managed to get any farther than "There once was a man from Nyack..."

it took me an hour and a half to get to work this morning, and i have to go home to take care of the dog after work. so i'm sorry, i love you all, but i am not spending an additional 3 hours on CTA tonight.

I have been trying to reconcile Blue Frog time with waking-up-at-4am-for-work time and I just can't do it. Since "waking up at 4am" doesn't fall on the list, it looks like I can safely skip out tonight.

You've broken my heart.

I'm still going, by the way. Fuck all y'all. Won't get down there before 6, though.

I'll get there as soon as I can. !^@@%^!^@$!E@%$%!# work.

Gentlemen: Wikipedia tells me Bess Meyrson is still alive.

In the 1980s, Myerson's life was darkened by a legal controversy (colloquially known as "the Bess Mess").

Well, what else would it be colloquially known as?

Johnny Carson really should have set fire to the Tonight Show studio at some point. Waste of a good colloquialism.
