Seeing all my tatery friends, and winning free beers. Did I mention this post was in binary?

It's one of the 10 kinds of people there are.

(see you all Monday)

I am leaving on a business trip tomorrow, so I won't be able to make it. Good luck!

Awesome! I just moved to town, and was hoping there would be a meetup soon

That seems a bit hexist.

(I was doing puzzles all last weekend. Bring in the semaphore!)

Well, you're the one with the flags, you know what to do. Or move on.

Can't make it again. (Birthday dinner.) Someday I shall return to wreak my vengeance.

Sidenote: I feel like I'm admitting to cheating when I say this, but I was perusing another website and someone was saying that the trivia at The Druid in Inman far surpasses Greeks who Drink trivia. Anyone every tried? I know they have a better beer list, so I thought I'd mention it. Of course, Inman is more of a PiTA to get to for most people.

I'd be interested in ... wait, did you say another website?

Anyway, Druid's is Wednesdays, and I'd be interested.

There's also something called the Big Quiz Thing which is some trivia thing imported from NYC, and takes place monthly at Oberon; $200 to the winners. And Jessamyn's played for a winning team at one of their events, too! The next one of those is Monday July 22.

(I think they stole the "Thing" idea from us. Grrr)

How late do y'all usually go? I might be free around 8:30-9ish.

I usually visit the Harvard Book Store after the game ends. It's always juuuust about to close. I think, then, that the game usually goes until about 10:30. It may end slightly earlier or later. I don't keep track of the time when I leave the bar.

Is coming partway through allowed? I secretly don't know anything about bar trivia OR LIFE also how would I know it's the right group

Each team can only have six members: The only complication for someone coming late would be if they were the thirteenth person to arrive. We only have 10 people definitely coming, and only one "Maybe," so you should be fine if you arrive midway.

As for identifying us, we usually sit at the back of the room, on the right, when the game is held upstairs, and at the back of the room, on the left, when downstairs. Someone could also comment saying where we are once we've gathered in one place.

By "back of the room" I mean "by the far wall." Upstairs, that would be near the stage.

Horace Rumpole will wear his blue MeFi t-shirt for easy identification.

There is an 80% chance I will not be there because summer colds are awful, but we'll see if a miracle occurs this afternoon.

Thanks! To be honest I'm not sure it's super likely that I'll be able to make it tonight, but I've been itching to come to one of these for a while.

Looks like I'll be able to make it this time. Looking forward to it!

I came a bit early to get food. I'm upstairs at the round table. I have a beard and am wearing a yellow shirt

Aw, man, I missed a cat round and (presumably) a question about Invader Zim? Boo.
posted by maryr at 9:58 AM on July 9, 2013

maryr: for internet people we did surprisingly poorly on the cat round.

The question mentioned Invader Zim, but the answer was the remarkably crappy Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.

See, you say crapy, but I think it's kind of brilliant in a twisted way.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm kind of tempted.

(And boo, Zim is best.)
