Is there enough interest in the film Les Miserables among the Chicago Cabal to organize a group trip to the movie theater?
Here's the thing.
I am a musical theater geek, and, while I revere Sondheim and all the intellect and intricacies of his work above almost every other, I am still a complete sucker for
Les Miserables. I have the original French concept album on cassette. I saw it in the West End with the original cast. Then I saw it on Broadway with
that original cast. I already know that I'm going to love this movie. I made a big post about it
on my tumblr. I am going to be FULL OF EMOTION, and there will be a close-to-100% chance of weeping occurring at several points during the film.
I need to go with people who UNDERSTAND.
For one reason or another, my usual movie-going friends don't understand. Whether it's just a movie-musicals-are-ridiculous bias, a purity-of-the-novel snobbishness, or a people-who-cry-at-movies-make-me-uncomfortable attitude, I don't have anyone to go with, and I'd rather not go alone.
Are any of you hankering to see this movie, unabashedly, unironically, and with full expectation of EMOTIONAL RESPONSES THAT MAY NOT BE ENTIRELY CONTROLLABLE?
Um... tell me I'm not alone, here?
