Sat January 19 at 7:00 PM, Bistro Aracosia
5100 MacArthur Blvd, Washington, DC, USA (Map & Directions)
Happy new year, foodies! Where we last left off, we were sitting at Pitango with our hot chocolate affogatos (world's greatest invention y/n) talking about getting Afghan food in January. I am thrilled to share the excellent news that lauded suburban spot Afghan Bistro has opened a DC location, Bistro Aracosia. Let's go!
"But capricorn, what the heck is DC FOODIES? Is this the secret cabal I'm not allowed to join?" We're a group of DC-area MeFites who have been informally gathering for world cuisine and cheap eats in the area for the last couple of years, and regulars and newcomers are both welcome!

This is up in the Palisades on MacArthur Blvd, so, I would rate the level of transit-accessibility as...eehhhhh? The nearest transit option is the D5/D6, and it's street parking only.

Sorry if you know this already but the Women's March is also on January 19. If it is anything like the 2017 march, it will make getting around town rather difficult.

So I'm supposed to be joining my Mom for the Women's March that day but if for some reason that doesn't pan out, yes, I want to do this.

Yeah, I will be home cooking for marchers that night myself. Hope to make it to another one of these eventually & big thanks to capricorn for putting them together!

Sorry to miss you, exogenous, and nightrecordings, I hope you can make it (but would totally understand if not)! I went to the 2017 and '18 women's marches and things were mostly pretty calm by 7PM, though I'd heed exogenous's warning if you're planning to pass through Chinatown on your way up.

I can't come to this one, but will keep an eye out for next one!

Also, the weather looks like it is going to be gross but not too gross. Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Unfortunately we won’t be able to make it tonight, as I was (lovingly) abducted out of the city last night. Have fun and make sure to order the butternut squash!
