If you are unaware of Scalefree's situation, you can check out his Askme question, and my subsequent Metalk post. Let's head to the Standard Tap sometime soon to show him a merry time!
The date has not been settled, but scalefree really likes the Standard Tap, so I think that'd be fun. I think we're settled on December 12th, but the time is still up in the air. Let me know what works for you!

Is the 12th OK for most people? Time? I see one preference for daylight, but not much else. I'll put it in at 5pm temporarily, and you can decide as we get closer.

Yes - the 12th is good for me. I have something else planned earlier in the day so 5 PM works for me. I've answered as a maybe, but am pretty sure I can make it.

I dunno, it's pretty dark at 5 pm, but yeah, put me firmly in the 'maybe' camp for early-like.

Any time on Sunday the 12th would be good for me. I'll bring eggnog cake and "HELLO, MY SCREEN NAME IS _____" badges (okay, I'll probably just bring myself).

It seems we're pretty split between early and late, though I'm not sure how "early" a lot of folks would like. Standard Tap opens at 11am that day, so we have plenty of room there.
If most people who prefer later would be able to work with 4pm, and those who preferred daylight hours are fine with that, maybe that'd be a nice compromise? I know the sun sets around 4:30 these days. Thoughts?

In order to accommodate everybody's schedule I will be there both early and late. Basically I just plan to let people buy me drinks until I can't stand up anymore, at which point I stagger off to my aunt's house in the suburbs. Sounds like a plan?

I've never been to Standard Tap (so don't know if it's a large place) and have never met any mefites. How will we find each other, especially if we're arriving at different times?

There are two levels. The upstairs is smaller and will be easier to find each other. I suggest a table there.

Ugh... I'm out, guys. Last Sunday (ironically enough, while heading to the city to meet an out-of-town Mefite), I was rear-ended... twice (OtherDriver's first attempt to flee the scene after the accident was NOT as successful as her second. Quoth my five year-old: "That other driver was an ASSHOLE!"). Therefore, I am without my own wheels for the time being. Hopefully by the time of the next Phila. gathering I'll be back on the road...

Does anyone have any definite plans on a time today, or are we all still maybes? I've been dealing with a crazy stomach illness, and I'm having a bad day. If people are for sure going at a certain time, let me know. I can stop by, but I dont think I'll be drinking or eating. If we think another day would be best for everyone, that's fine too!

Heh. Well, I showed up at least. I was witty & charming, more handsome than I expected & even, dare I say, sexy. We bonded instantly & I felt as if I'd known myself all my life. Stories were told, secrets shared & plans hatched. Alas I neglected to take pictures of the event (as is the custom) but it's just as well, I tend to shy away from cameras. I look forward to doing it again soon, perhaps with someone more than just myself next time.
Seriously though, it's OK. Though you could have not all waited until I'd already left for downtown before posting. Get better everyone & I'll see you soon.

I'm so sorry, Scalefree! I posted around 12:30 and memailed you yesterday around 1:30pm... Was that too early? I feel partly responsible because I arranged this, but I'm (gross ahead) literally not digesting my food properly (or at all), and yesterday I was having a really bad day of it. I'll buy you a beer next time we have a meet up! Hope things are going well for you. Sorry again!!

I'm not mad at anybody, I actually had a good time getting out & about town. Stopped off in Chinatown & got the makings of a nice Pho & also beef salad, so my tummy will be happy this week. It was just bad luck, not maliciousness or anything. Just try to keep in mind for future events that not everybody has a neural implant yet, some of us need a little lead time in our notifications*. As they say, forward not backward; upward not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.
